I just bought Gallery Glass paint for my miniature Baroque church. I didn’t get Vitrail because it’s expensive where I live. Which of the two paints do you prefer? Any pros and cons?

Beautiful! You can also freehand with black puffy paint and fill in with clear glue with added acrylic paints for color, I made a glue bottle of each color 10 different colors so I didn’t need a brush or anything. You just drizzle it on and it pools to fill. My first one was a catastrophe full of bubbles and a mess but just play around with it.

Great technique, BUT I did learn somthing new!!! I loved the plastic box you used for your colors! I have a few but never use them. Now they have a new use.

Which lead strips do you prefer?
@MisterLarrie3 жыл бұрын
I DEFINITELY likes the ones I used in this video! After a bit of trial and error with the cutting and joining the overlaps, it just sort of clicked. I like how malleable the metal is, and that it’s metal! I just wish I had a darker finish. Next time!

@@MisterLarrie Thank you so much for the prompt response. Recently discovered your channel. Love it and your style! Keep it up! Oh, forgot to ask, do you also prefer these glass paints over the first ones you used?
@MisterLarrie3 жыл бұрын
@@naomim5015 Absolutely!! No problem at all. And thank you for watching! I DO prefer these paints - they feel longer lasting and have a flatter sheen than the other glass paint - but I think they are both good options for slightly different looks, and different budgets. (These paints are muuuch pricier - which is why I used such a small set!)

@@MisterLarrie I've newly discovered your channel because I've been playing with adhesive lead and vitrail paints. I love your content! So I know I'm late to the game but because the strips are actual lead you can use black patina product like novacan. Also, the vitrail paints can be used 'flood fill' by using a dropper for a smoother more consistent color.

I do believe it can! I haven’t tried it myself as of yet but I don’t see any reason the paint wouldn’t cure/adhere.

Vitrail is pronounced close to "Vit'-tree-al". Threw me at first too. Your video is fantastic and I love that you're focusing on quality supplies. Do you know how to get air bubbles out of the paints? These colours are so vibrant.
@MisterLarrie3 жыл бұрын
Thank you!! I wanted to say “vitriol” but I knew THAT was wrong 🤣🤣 To my knowledge, as long as you gently swirl the paint (as opposed to shaking it) it should keep the bubbles down to a minimum. Then i just pop any bubbles that do appear as quickly as possible. I got a little overly excited mixing my colors, but ultimately I had few bubbles appear!

I really like the lead overlaps, yours look like intricate knots, and so much easier than cutting precise edge to edge. Any suggestions for less expensive glass paint? The Pebeo brand in Canada is about $8. an ounce. Thanks for the beautiful demo!

@SpirituallyRefined15 күн бұрын
Pebeo makes two different kinds of glass paint. Vitrail which is similar to gallery glass then they make vitrea which is applied the same as vitrea but with an outliner and you can bake it for a permanent glass art no peeling. 😊
@bysouthernhands3 жыл бұрын
Question... did it take just 1 discovery set of that Vitrail paint to do your project? Do the individual pots of paint go a long way? Reason I’m asking is because I already do Gallery Glass but have been thinking of trying the Vitrail paints but haven’t yet due to their cost...looks great!!!
@MisterLarrie3 жыл бұрын
I used the discovery set, and I was pleasantly surprised, considering that these aren’t my first choice colors. But I was able to to do a bit of mixing and experimenting to get even more colors. And I used very little paint overall! It was definitely worth the investment, as it has a far superior glass-like look than Gallery Glass does in my side by side comparison. Good luck!
@mariah68303 жыл бұрын
Love this video thank you! Question.... did you paint on the "inside" of the glass panels (inside when you close the frame) Did it cause issues - marking, sticking, etc.? Also - do you use links to products? I can certainly web search too... thank you again - my future front door appreciates your lesson!!!
