I'm late, but the resin pump does make life a little easier for me. Little older, little shakier so pouring out can be a hassle. Having the pump remove the resin, then filling some IPA in the tank and pumping that out does wonders if changing resin. I"m patient, can wait. Usually doing something else while it does it's thing anyway. So count me as one of 10, lol.

I have an Anycubic Photon M3 Premium and really liked it right up unitl 12K scrren went out. I know that the screens are consumables and since the printer was about a year old I thought that I would og to Anycubic's sight and order a new screen, Wrong!. Out of stock! Sent email to Anycubic support and was told the were not any more screens, the printer was too old. I did find a chat that said the 12 K screen is available from Elegoo for their Saturn except that the glass is slightly smaller in size. I did order one, installed with some spaces printed on a FDM printer and am now printing again. Replacing the screen is like needing to take the engine out of your car to change the oil. So for my Anycubic printers print well, but support is poor.

This is one of the things I don't understand with 12K chineese printers. I get that different LCD could have different transparency and quality, but why they are not sold with same connectors or at least with option to buy adapters and some SW updates to most 12k printers? Even if Elegoo did it only for their printers and Anycubic for their it would be super great. LCDs are consumables, but are not treated as consumables. Elegoo even sells different LCDs for S3 and S4, even though these look identical and have identical parameters - these are still different LCDs according to them.

Whilst I agree that a heater that sits inside the printer should be optional... I actually think that when the solution is a heated vat then this should be provided as standard. I have my heating solution all set up in the cupboard my printer lives in. I don't want to pay for another heater that is just a lump sat in a box. A heated vat however is better solution than an external heater (I will happily acknowledge that now), and to be done conveniently it really needs to be integrated in to the vat. I know you can vat bands and brew belts and that people love them, but personally I hate the hassle if you have to remove them and can't be bothered with it. So if heated vat is the route a printer has gone, that vat should just be supplied with the printer as you are paying for something better than you have and something you actually need if you want to use that particular heating solution (you can't just use your old heated vat - if you have one). If the heated vat and dynamic lift height make it to their next medium sized printer, then I'm absolutely getting that.
@GuardianLords5 күн бұрын
They dynamic layer lift is game changer. ACF and lower resolution is actually better for the large printers. For massive prints, more than likely no one is going to print under the standard .05mm layer heights unless they wanted to wait for days. And to get a higher resolution on this size of a screen would increase the cost significantly. Also with the massive surface area, the nFep will require a much slower lift speed to safely release and the suction forces are significantly larger with the increased surface area and large prints.

Can happily say I'm one of the first 500! (also used your code) Mine should be arriving in 3-4 days, and I'm so stoked to see this positive review. I'm still not 100% clear on whether this printer can safely use PFA release film though? Their support team said no. Although if the quality in this video is all using ACF, then I don't think I'm overly concerned when it comes to my use case.
@alfredanilАй бұрын
The peel force is too high for PFA film so that's why the support team suggest ACF to get better film life. Elagoo nailed this problem with tilting vat tank design for their ultra series, this mechanism reduces peel forces and so it works well with PFA film.

That port hole configuration sure looks very similar to a standard PAPR (or at least 3M's style) respirator hose connector.. Somewhat standard-ish industrial/medical ventilation system, utilized in all sorts of clean-room environments, manufacturing, etc.. Would make sense to me as a good choice to utilize for print farms, where you'd utilize a centralized system instead of an individual one for each machine. Typically they have a flange with a couple of detent balls or tabs that twist into those recesses in that bore, connected to a flexible hose (similar to a shop (wet/dry) vacuum).

While I'm not super enthused about resin pumps, I will say: The amount of resin likely to be stuck in the pump isn't worth worrying about for cross contamination. All these resins cure at the same wavelength, and my experience has been that you can leave more of your last resin behind than you'd expect before it makes any meaningful difference on the color, physical properties, or optimal print settings for your new resin. In a vat of that size, I can't see there being any issue even switching from wildly different resins, like a flexible or casting resin to a quick-cure resin.
@jimwilliamson5594Ай бұрын
Pumps just add more mechanical losses, more mess and cleaning. But hay each to there own.
@FauxHammerАй бұрын
It really depends. For most people yes this is true. But for those where compress contaminants are a problem. It’s important to highlight Dark colour followed by whites or clears. Or food/medical grade material after a non specialist grade.
@brendanarmstrong7802Ай бұрын
@@FauxHammer I hadn't thought about food grade, admittedly, though I've had no issues printing white or clear resin with a little bit of dark grey left in the vat. Though I guess I could be underestimating just how much resin can get left over in that pump.

@@FauxHammer While true, would someone printing food grade be that careless. Usually food grade machines are dedicated to just that. Hi FauxHammer, thanks for the amazing information so far. Have been / still am bingeing your content. So I'm looking to get into 3d printing. I'm not entirely sure on what I want to create yet but I need a hobby and I can see a lot of creative and utility use out of these. Resin seems the way to go for me as well. But my question is this. If I had a budget of 2000, and in descending order of importance Resolution, reliability, size, ease of maintenance, time, and resolution is the one thing Im not willing to compromise on, what model of printer would you recommend? I like to dive straight into the deepest end of the pool as I despise and hate buying intro models just to find quickly it doesnt meet my needs and have to waste money buying another and another.
@FauxHammerАй бұрын
Woah, well when you say resolution, unfortunately that is not so easy to define. You can have higher "resolution" printers now which perform worse than their competitors, but this is genuinely mostly a hairline margin now. So lets say Print Accuracy instead. With that in mind, and considering your budget you may be open to more expensive resins too, I would 100% go with an Ultracraft RS. Or if you feel you want more engineering applications like using their more advanced materials like Transparent or Casing resins, The Reflex. These are out of the box, the most accurate printers. The next one up from this is probably a FormLabs form 4, But the jury is out as to whether or not this is more accurate. Below those two, you ae looking at dialling in resins yourself no matter what you choose. So resolution wise, Anything which is 10" that is 12k and up will be indistinguishable from the next thing. (with exception of the Anycubic M5 series, which aren't so good.) But this then depends on other factors. The Resin, The Release Film, your ability to dial it in. So if you are considering printers that level. you really need to look at them all to decide on teh features you want persoinally. Luckily I just released a video summarising all the best printers earlier this week which should give you an overview of the positives and negatives of them all
@BinaryBlitzАй бұрын
@@FauxHammer Thanks man. Yeah I saw that video and that gave me a good and narrowed scope to dig into. Both the RS and Reflex caught my eye. Aside from general 'for the fun of it' prints part of my career is engineering so I can see it being used for lots of other applications. High tensile strength would be a must in some and high impact strength in others. Man if they ever come out with a desktop version of metal sintering printers that don't require a shop floor I'd definitely be in the market. So ultimately having said all that, I guess if I offered to buy you any printer that didnt require a wall to be knocked out to bring it into the home, say of all the printers you reviewed, what would be your go-to? Im assuming still either the RS or reflex.

If they can keep the price down from the Jupiter SE from Elegoo then I may purchase this instead. I have a bit of biased with Elegoo due to other products but the performance is nice for the price. So it is a tie for me atm until I can afford it.

Do you think they will release a screen upgrade for this printer? The only thing holding me back is the voxel size cuz so many other brands have much better µm

i might end up ordering this one from your link mate thanks a lot only one question does it have any cameras Future?
@FauxHammer18 күн бұрын
Thanks mate, No cameras in this one, but Anycubic do have a Camera add-on for resin prinetrs which may be compatible. in fact, i should probably order one for future testing!
@FauxHammer18 күн бұрын
Ah, I just looked at it, only compatible with m3 plus according to the website,

I wonder if the pressure sensors can (or do) provide the capability to have an “auto” setting for the height… is that even a thing? I’m still a noob with resin printing so please forgive my ignorance lol
@FauxHammerАй бұрын
I’m still playing with it Derek at J3D knows more and I met Anycubic today actually at FormNext and asked them a bout this I think you can literally set the lift height yo like. 100mm and it should dynamically adjust when it feels the layer peel. I need to bonhomie’s and test this though.

Just to make sure I understand, does the heater stay on/keep warning through the *entire* print? I've heard reports that it no longer heats once the print starts, not something that'll work for me in a 45-50 farenheit garage.
@igoreydya6836Ай бұрын
That's true. The feature only works as pre-heating. I think they can easily fix this with firmware update tho

What do you recommend for wash and cure for this?
@FauxHammerАй бұрын
Honestly, I really like the Phrozen one. It;s very large. The Wash & Cure max is awful. So just anything big! I;d get a couple of large pickle jars as pre-wash.
@craigchuck4247Ай бұрын
Impressed , the screen resolution puts me off for what I want a larger printer for and having to rip a brand new acf film off straight away as well isn’t a sellling point I like . Great look at what’s going to be coming in 2025 and if elegoo insist to keep using that useless build plate that’s on the sat 4 then I might jump ship

There is a lot of comparing the M7 Max to the GK3 Ultra and rightfully so. Let me put it like this. The M7 Max is PERFECT for printing toys - Print quality and price. The GK3 Ulta is what you NEED if you want to print Art - Print quality and price.
@88RunnerBladeАй бұрын
don't really understand this comment. What is art, what are toys? Are miniatures art or toys? Which one of those needs better print quality, art or toys, and why would one be for toys and the other for art when print quality is comparable? Actually, @FauxHammer says M7 Max is a bit sharper than Ultra.
@J3DTechАй бұрын
@@88RunnerBladeConsider a toy something you're wanting to play with a table top mini for fun. Art is something you're going to place on a shelf and look at possibly behind glass. The difference is the accuracy required for art isn't required for a toy.
@88RunnerBladeАй бұрын
@@J3DTech I see, but from your comment, why is than Ultra for art when M7 Max seems to have on par or even better print quality?

Im trying to get into 3d printing whats the best printer to get to start printing statues?
@FauxHammer17 күн бұрын
You can get away with something smaller than this. a 10" printer will do the job, but likely require multiple prints for one model, which isn;t always a gurentee on this one anyway. Smaller higher resolution printers will also offer smoother and sharper results. so it depetnds on how detailed your statues are. youc an smooth prints out on these, but you may loose some detail. It is a bit more likely that these details are imprecieveable on statue scale models. Maybe try something like SaSaturn 4 or M7 if this is your first printer, unless you already know you wnat that extra size.

Anycubic Mono M7 Max or Phrozen Sonic Mighty Revo 14K ? Which one should I buy ? Please guide me in the right direction
@FauxHammer3 күн бұрын
Rather different machines. Revo gives you higher quality prints but the way the ancillary features are integrated, aren’t the best. The max is for people who are after a larger printer. Better features, integrated better. but the prints are noticeably lower quality.

how hard is it to level the photon mono m7 max mainly since i am thinking of getting anycubic resin printer

It's as simple as I shoed in the video. you just need to hold it flat and tighten it slowly by doing quarter turns in alternating corners and you;re golden

@@FauxHammer I won both of my hey gears, I just don't like the walled garden type of system, i bought the heated vat for the rs and got told if i replace the vat myself instead of getting there $100 2pc vat i would not be able to use the heated vat. heygears just feels like a printer you buy but feels like you are renting it because its very limited or renting an apartment you cant do much compared to owning your house you can do anything with it.

I would definitely wait for Jupiter Ultra as they might come with 16K screen as well like the GK3 Ultra. They already brought 16k to Saturn 4 Ultra, fingers crossed.

@darnon2031Ай бұрын
I don't think the M5S Pro is quite as bad as the somewhat scathing review Ross gave would imply. I got a refurb one for $180 all-in on eBay a month ago, albeit it did have the mask LCD conk out after a week and require installing a new one. Warranty replacement support (through their eBay contact) was straightforward, and those 14k screens retail alone for nearly as much as I paid for the whole machine. Since then it's performed handily printing some OPR titan models.
