Dude, I follow your channel and you give very detailed information. After a long research, I pushed my budget and bought a Saturn 4 in the last days of the sale. The package arrived at my house in the morning. I had an accident on my motorcycle while returning from work in the evening. I hit the side of the car, I have a small fracture in my arm. I may not be able to go to work for a while. Since I was at fault in the accident, I am facing a difficult period financially. I've gone on too long. I hope the Saturn 4 doesn't give me any trouble during this recovery period. It will be my first resin printer. It's still in its box. I'm watching your videos and taking notes.

Bought the M7 Pro Christmas time frame. You basically cover all the feature which made me go for this model. But, buyers should beware there's a batch of M7 series build plates that are ever so slightly concave causing failed prints and models to detach from the plate. In my case the concave plate causes failure in the middle and middle back portions. So long as I print around those areas it's solid. Keep notes on your prints to develop patterns. I contacted Anycubic, and they readily agreed to send me a new plate. I provided photos and an explanation. Second time I've used customer service and I am happy with them. Responsive within 12 hours. Overall, soon as my plate comes in, I'm going to be very satisfied with my purchase. Oh and agree with the resin pumps being messy and cumbersome.
@rickpicard287321 сағат бұрын
Good to know about their responsiveness on the build plate flatness. I got my M7 around the same time and when I used their standard V2 resin I had no issues. I then got some of their "texture" resin and started to notice it wasn't truly flat. I releveled multiple times and still find I am better off using the rear portion of the build plate. When I finish this resin I will go back to the other stuff and see if its still an issue, but I will definitely reach out to Anycubic for a replacment.
@davidelvirafranqui787421 сағат бұрын
@@rickpicard2873 run a flat edge across the plate x/y and see if any light shines through. Your story seems very similar to mine. I switched to the textured after one bottle of standard. The detail from the textured is amazing, but my bottom time exp is 60s. Fast forward 2 bottles, several failures and not as quality looking prints and I find the plate is concave. Really hoping this solves my issue
@rickpicard287321 сағат бұрын
@@davidelvirafranqui7874 Yeah, I had already done that. I do have a high spot. Its in the center front of the plate. I can see the light come through. I am currently running smaller items so I just force them along the rear of the build plate. I did find that I need to up the bottom exposure time as well - but no where near as much as you. I am using 36s now, whereas I was using 25s for the standard. I do have some larger projects in the queue which will require the use of the entire build volume - so I just contacted Anycubic about getting a new plate.
@Jim-tn3vq19 сағат бұрын
Anycubic 7Max - I had the same concave plate and on further investigation I found a larger gap when the adjusting screws (2) on the side of the build plate were undone. I had one side tighten firm and the other side loose. The gap was about plus 1.5 mm at the "L" shape bracket and the carrier. I then removed the "L" bracket and machined it to close down the gap to .2mm. Then reassembling and leveled the plate. By doing this it eliminated the pulling force placed on build plate and the plate became perfectly flat. So much so its now perfect. Now there is no light shining under the straight edge at all. Adjusting print settings was only masking the issue of adhesion. While my career involved investigating engineering non conformance there is usually a cause for problems and people often take the easy way out. I have report my findings to Anycubic along with photos and they kindly placed the build plate even after I asked them not to. But thanks Anycubic anyway.

Based on your previous reviews, I ended up choosing the S4U. What sold me was the tilting vat mechanism. Overall it has been working great and is definitely faster than the Saturn 8K I previously owned. However, as mentioned when I reached out to you, I've noticed more fumes. I ended up solving that issue by buying an enclosure by Yoopai and it solved the problem. The printer is hooked up to an active vent system incorporating an exhaust fan. I bought an M7 a few weeks ago; no regrets at all! Would definitely recommend it to people; I've had a good experience so far, my troubleshooting hasn't been difficult, and I have confidence that it wouldn't be cumbersome to replace components when it's eventually time for that. I don't care for the M7 Pro; the only feature I'd maybe like is chamber heating but, as you said, I'd rather just buy the ~$70 add-on heater and go that route.

You know what would be an AMAZING innovation? To have the control panel of the printer on a separate 'box' or 'pad'... connected with a (flexible) power cord to the printer. This way, you can lay the touch panel aside while removing prints or filling the vat... and any resin that might spill would fall on the base of the printer and NOT DRIP DOWN over your control panel.

I have a Saturn 4. Looking back I do wish I had gotten the Saturn 4 ultra mostly because of the multi exposure test feature. I don't do enough printing on the Saturn 4 for the build plate cleaning to be a big issue. But it is still an inconvenience. I did recently purchase a Anycubic mono 4 ultra to do the most of my printing since most of what I print is small parts for 1/25-1/24 scale model cars. It seems a little easier to clean. I will leave the resin in the tank up to a week or two if needed. I have covers built to cover the vats when not in use.

There is one (somewhat important) consideration you failed to cover, and that is the slicer software. I bought a Saturn 4 a few months ago, after having owned an Anycubic Photon D2 for almost 2 years. I love the Saturn, but what I don't love is Chitubox. All my M7s had the same issue, after about 200 hours of use, i get a levelling error, and no matter what i did or what part i had to replace it never levels. Now, about 6 months after release, i have the same 2 saturns and 1 M7 (amazon exchanged) under 200 hours. Now i am waiting for the my latest m7 to break to finally just let go my loses....

Having had both now I think I prefer the M7 Pro over the Saturn 4 Pro. Neither are perfect. Each can make fantastic prints, but the thing that has me thus far preferring the M7 Pro is the heater, even at the cost of a stupidly unwieldy vat, and the Intelligent release. With the intelligent release the M7 Pro with PFA is still lightning faster vs the Saturn 4 Ultra for me with the same resin. It also doesn't help the Saturn's case when my tilting release gave up in month 7 and I was told it was past the 6 month warranty... more mechanisms that can fail that aren't backed up by much warranty isn't a fantastic feeling. If they found a different solution that didn't combine an awful pour spout with an awkward pump attached vat, and they moved to a swing lid I would say the M7 Pro would be damn near perfect.
@jayfc320 сағат бұрын
I have the 7 pro as well and have found the vat easy to clean. Little alcohol and run the cleaning cycle and it's done. Not sure why Ross has such a thing with it. The pump also works well with Elegoo bottles. Dig these comparisons but some of the contrasts are a little much. The cleaning vs the heater is a non-issue for most, as well as the film change. Easy to do.

this just tells me that now kind of isnt the time to invest into a resin printer / upgrade from my fdm ... seems all these companies need to refine their user friendly features and decide on either speed at cost of precision or just make a nice precision model .... personally i just want out of the box performance where i dont have to fudge about all the time.. its why i love my current fdm printer (bambu labs A1) cause i can just load a print and it does it without a fuss.. an out of box no fuss plug and play printer is what i need to see being an option from resin printers to buy one as a consumer.. if i'm getting quality and ease of use the price doesnt matter that much .. i'd rather spend more now than spend time cleaning and repairing machines cause of stupid oversights... nor do i wish to spend large volumes of time figuring out what settings i need constantly and adjusting the machine, having a machine that can for example auto level i feel at this point should be an industry standard... hopefully this year we see those good improvements implemented as i am looking into buying something for resin as it seems everyone is shifting over to resin unsurprisingly cause of the amazing quality..

@@FauxHammer I've got a grow tent but I'm talking about once you up everything up. My setup is the printer is in the grow tent and the wash and clean is on a working area outside of it. Inside the tent I have a 720cfm exhaust fan that vents to the outside. The tent intakes the air that's in the room. Is the cfm fan fast enough to vent the room fast enough?

3:30 its auto leveling, dropping a dislike for misleading information.

But It’s not auto “levelling”, it’s auto “zeroing”, it will not automatically level the plate and make it parallel to the screen. And quite a few people have had issues because it can’t be manually levelled. So much so that the new printer has a specific feature to now allow this. But from a hardware perspective, it’s still limited Geek Detour did a whole video about this

@FauxHammer that's is still still auto leveling as I had made 0 adjustments to it after 3 FEP changes on 2 seperat vats, compared to manually leveling yourself from the box. hardware level manufactiring defects does not take from this, and neither does adding redundancy.

@@miguellopez3392 I mean, we are arguing semantics here, which is fine, i love to be specific. But this being, well intended to be where there are no defects (pre levelled), still does not auto level the system. and certainly not in the way that Elegoo marketed it where they show and unlevel bed levelling itself. So i see your point, but i personally don;t this this warrants a dislike for a valid claim of what the mechanism is actually doing in contrast to how it was shown. But it;s your call, I;m glad for the engagement either way and i;m glad we could discuss it
