In the end - after the dust has settled - _Ethan Frome_ may be my favorite of the Whartons that I have read. Because it is so stark. Thanks for the intro to two new BookTubers, and good luck on your new shelf arrangement.

I just finished The Mirror and the Light after rereading the first two books and while I don't love TMatL the most of the trilogy, I'm not sure I could pick a favorite between the other two. All three books are so good.

The big deal about the Daughter of Time is that it’s about the real life mystery of the princes in the tower, who may or may not have been murdered by their uncle, King Richard III in the 15th century. It’s a mystery that has never been solved, although the bones of 2 young boys were discovered in the Tower of London hundreds of years later. It’s something many English historians disagree on and Richard III even has a fan club.

@@Shellyish Wow…! Not sure how well I can articulate. Finished it today. It is literary fiction, coming of age - the sci-fi component is quite small. Took me a bit to get used to the writing style and then I loved it! Beautiful prose (almost poetic at times). Insightful, heartfelt, funny, poignant. Will definitely get you in the gut and make you think and reflect. (Think of I Who Have Never Known Men as far as how you reflect after having read it.) I think Beautyland is a “Shelly book”. 😁 4 stars!

❤📚❤️ I purchased Wolf Hall because of your excitement and love for the book. I'm saving it for winter reading next to the fireplace. Oooo, I have Pilgrim at Tinker Creek and Ethan Frome as well!! I'm reading Marcelo in the Real World by Francisco X. Stork right now. It's about a teen boy who hears music all the time, that nobody else can hear. His father doesn't believe in the music or his sons differences. I'm only two chapters in, but I have high hopes it will be a great read. Good luck getting the computer back soon, but know you're still doing a wonderful job!

I absolutely loved Lonesome Dove. Also, I keep thinking I should read The Luminaries because I really enjoyed the author's latest book, Birnam Wood. Wolf Hall was just not a good read for me. I wish it was - then I would have continued with the rest of the trilogy.

I was so disappointed in the Tey book! The label "the best mystery of all time" was made by people who do not read many mysteries. The prose is nice, but the mystery is pitiful. You should try Nero Wolfe. He solves mysteries from home and they're very good! Of all of your choices, Sansom is my favorite! I enjoy historical fiction where the main characters are fictional. I had to DNF The Constant Princess by Gregory because I was liking Catherine too much and I knew that Henry was going to murder her!! Wonder sounds interesting! Hope you get your computer back soon 🙂. I'm perfectly happy with the unedited ones however. Enjoy your reads!!
