For us, Denison Math has been #1 for both my 8th and 10th graders!

@@homeschoolteenswithjenny I haven't heard of that one. I'll have to check it out. Thanks for sharing!

@@JanelleKnutson It was created for struggling math learners, but it's really great for kids who just don't like math too. We did Pre-Algebra and Geometry between both kids, and they love math now!

My favorites this year are Math With Confidence for my 3rd grader and Denison Algebra for my 9th grader. I am thankful we have found something that works for both of them, and that we are actually enjoying math! I am not a mathy person, so that is surprising to me. :)

Please never delete this, I want to do exactly this when my kids are in high school, but that won't be for another many years 😄 Thank you so much for sharing, this is a great video!

If it helps anyone, I am a history professor. I put all my lectures on KZbin as a free resource to help homeschoolers. You can learn the entire history of Western Civ and the History of the Middle East. I did also create unit studies that go along with my videos.

We have enjoyed our BJU video courses. We have also enjoyed Schole Academy (Classical Academic Press for our traditional homeschool subject too) & Memoria Academy for live online courses. Yes, we mix traditional Christain education with classical.

After 12 years of homeschooling, some of our tried-and-true favorites are My Father's World Kindergarten, CLE Math in the younger years, Denison Algebra and Geometry for High School, MB Intro to Logic, and Fix It! Grammar. Looking for new bible curriculum for a 7th grade boy next year....

My favorite thing that we have done this year has been our history. I have chosen engaging books to read and gone in chronological order starting at creation. With my elementary children, we have made a couple of lap books and put a timeline on the wall. We're probably going to end the year at the Roman Empire. This has brought history so much to life for both myself and my kids. I don't think we will ever forget many of the things we have studied this year.

That sounds wonderful! What a great way to study history.

Hi Janelle, You mentioned that you really loved seventh grade Bible course from BJU. Would you recommend that would be a course that I could teach all of my kids with for the year? I currently have a seventh grader, fourth grader, first grader, preschooler for the school year. Obviously, they will move up a grade next year.) Appreciate your thoughts, opinion, feedback!

I’ve always been intrigued by Bju resources but not sure about going the video route. How long is a typical video lesson and about how long does your middle schooler take to get through a core subject?
@JanelleKnutson7 ай бұрын
Video lesson lengths vary by course. I'd say they average 20 minutes in length plus reading and/or assignment. Today, her Bible lesson was 18 minutes and it took her 10 minutes to read the lesson.

Thank you for this-I love hearing about different curriculums! What Bible course or book would you suggest for a 10 year old boy who is struggling to understand grace vs. works? Thank you! :)
@JanelleKnutson7 ай бұрын
This book ( amzn.to/3vXiqud ) was a good starting point with my own kids. It's a picture book by RC Sproul. Helped get the discussion started and has some parent discussion points/verses in the back.

I'm considering BJU English 4 next year for my youngest, and I keep looking at their curriculum for other subjects too. :) For 7th grade BJU Life Science, does your daughter do any hands-on experiments at home?
@JanelleKnutson7 ай бұрын
The curriculum has labs/hands-on experiments that are suggested but she did not do them this year. Since she is in middle school, labs are not necessary (for our homeschool). That being said, my older daughter took the life science course and did most of the labs because she had an interest in doing them, we had the money to invest in the lab supplies, and we had the time that year to do the labs.

I see that there is a student edition of “Changed into His Image.” Do you know what the difference is? How did you choose which one to get?
@JanelleKnutson7 ай бұрын
I went with the original one for several reasons. 1. I already had the book 2. it has more content 3. I knew the teen reading it would enjoy and benefit from it and would be able to handle the reading/comprehension level Here is a post from the author on how the student edition differs from the original: www.jimberg.com/blog/2020/8/7/changed-into-his-image-2nd-student-edition-just-released
