Thanks for sharing your faves! Here's what I plan on using (as of right now) for my incoming 3rd-grader next year: Guest Hollow Language Arts + Beowulf's Grammar (for grades 2-6), TGTB Handwriting, Science Shepherd (5-minute lessons online, short worksheet to go with lesson), TGTB Math, Notgrass Our 50 States for history, Spelling You See, Evan Moor Art, Squilt Music, & World Kids Explore for current events (magazine + digital), & More Than Words (Rebecca Spooner's Bible devotional) --- We tried TGTB LA this year and it was just ok for us. I have a busy-body 8-year-old and he needs something more tactile. There's just tooooooo much to research and try!! 🙃

Thanks for all this info. I’m Catholic but am considering CLE. Is there any real push concerning set philosophies? Also, considering your style of homeschooling, which I feel is similar to mine and my current situation, I would suggest Real Science for Kids. I can’t really recommend it yet but have been eyeing it and thought I would mention it in case it might interest you. Lol.

Love alot of these! I have just recently looked into CLE. I got the LTR level. Since you have used it maybe you can answer my question. In looking through I'm concerned the way they have the child find how the word phonetically sounds will confuse my children when just starting out learning to read. exp. having them match "Said" to "sed". or "above" to "ubuv" (idk if these exact ones are in the curriculum its just to give exp.) Did this type of thing help or confuse your children with CLE LA and reading?

That’s great! I love LTR! No, I really don’t remember that ever being a problem. It wasn’t confusing for my girls.

I purchased CLE reading for my 2nd grader thanks to you and Pennies and Salt. Your videos have been super helpful. My question for you is would you recommend CLE reading program for fourth and fifth grade even if you don’t feel your kiddos need help with reading per se? Do you think it still would be a miss not to give them something structured like that? And perhaps I ask this question without really understanding all that’s involved with their reading program. I love what I see in the second grade, so it makes me interested for my older two. Thank you for any insight.
@ourthriftyhomeschool2 жыл бұрын
Awww that’s awesome! I would definitely say to keep doing the reading program in the upper grades! I love their reading program and my girls are all very strong readers. Once you get into the higher levels of elementary and beyond it’s not about learning to read, it’s about comprehension and learning all the components of reading. I did a more in depth review about their reading program that might help. I’ll link it below.

Hello! I’m new here and I love your videos- very helpful! I have a question- with CLE language and reading, is spelling not included? I was leaning toward CLE for my 4th, 2nd and kinder next year and thought spelling was included in their language. Are you using the Evan Moore spelling along with CLE?
@ourthriftyhomeschool2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! ❤️ CLE language does include spelling! We’re just not using their language this year, that’s why we’re adding a separate spelling.

At which grade would you recommend starting Biblioplan?
@ourthriftyhomeschool Жыл бұрын
That’s tough! The textbook we use says it’s for k-8 I believe….but I probably wouldn’t use it before 3rd for my kids. It covers a lot of content that I think would go over the younger ones heads….but that is the case with most history curriculums, I think. I hope that helps!

We are currently doing the Biology 1. I love the *concept*, but we won’t be doing it again next year. It feels pretty empty and there aren’t many experiments. I do like how they try to make science a group subject.

@@Keepasking123 thanks, I love the concept too but couldn't justify the price just for one subject.
@Keepasking1232 жыл бұрын
@@natasiabellah9124 it is very $$ indeed. Also wanted to add, I always have to supplement the book content with usually KZbin videos because some days you read 2-3 pages of a book and my kids are like, “that’s it?” And the writing assignments are very repetitive. Again…love the concept of learning through books and maybe it’d be ok for young students but I feel like this year our science time was wasted :-(
