Survival On Purpose: most of the time the sheath stays on my pack but comes off easy for quick carry using Nite-Ize S-Biner #4.

Those are some great picks. I really like that little folder. I'm the same as I prefer the SCHF37 over the 36, I just seem to get more use out of it. I like the 36, but I just don't use it much.

Good video Brian...I'm a wee bit disappointed that the Schrade Extreme hollow-handle knives didn't make your cut. One piece indestructible beasts w/ the added ability to store stuff for Emergencies (Thanks again for your input there...). Keep 'em coming....

Art-E-Mouse There was really no "cut", I was just trying to keep it narrow. I actually had the smaller, clip point version in my hand to add but decided 5 was enough for one video. I'll probably do another "more favorites" video at some point and one of the hollow handles will be on there. I really like them too. Thanks for watching.

Good video Bryan. I've pretty much overlooked the bolo myself, partly because it's not full tang, and partly because the price wasn't right (in my view). Seems it's available more reasonably these days though, so I might have to re-think that.

Charles Collier Thanks Charles. I think they actually do say this is full tang with an overmolded handle. I think that means it is more substantial than just a rat tail type tang. I know I beat the heck out of mine and it is none the worse for wear.

Very good video!! Bryan, I do have a question for you. I noticed that you really like the SCHF37M and that yours is a stainless steel instead of the 1095 High Carbon Steel. Could you maybe, if you haven't done one, do a video on your thoughts about 1095 steel versus the stainless. Which do you prefer?? The pros and cons of the two different steels.

thanks for the good in depth and straight forward reviews Brian. been looking at the schf36 for awhile and finally ordered Sunday, anxiously awaiting delivery for Wednesday. I do plan on stripping the coating and mirror polishing it my self tho. not a fan if the thick powder coatings. still need to do the same to my Kershaw camp10. hope you do a reveiw on that one some day.

Say Heah Brian, I don't have any new Schrade, All my are made in the U. S. A. But seriously I just had a Baldrik Piggyback Sheath's made for my Rodent 7 and my Rodent 4, I luv my Beast my Ratweiler in my One Tool Option well I do neck carry my Rodent Solution with it, But in the Winter and Cold weather Scouting, I thought upping the anti so one of my Fav. Bushcraft Knives actually is my Rodent 4, It doesn't look as a typical Bushcraft knife, But until you have one in your hands and use one, Man it's Aces, For me it's just the right size, weight. It's more like a Tactical knife gone Bushcraft. Really a great one. I always thought Schrade makes some awesome looking knives, and priced good to start out with, But I:very been doing solo's all year round so I sort of know what can happen out there. I make sure when I go out my tools can help me with a shelter and to process wood to stay warm. Infact my new set - up this season with be my Baldrik set-up, My 24" Council Wood Craft Pack Axe with the heavy duty sheath and sling and my and still my Fav. my Wicked Tough Saw, Yeah, To some a over kill, But I like using tools, and you never know how serious it could get out there especially when I'm alone.

I just bought the SCHF37 High Carbon Steel. It is supposed to be here tomorrow and I have butterflies waiting for it. Do you have a video on how to strip the coating off? I am going to use my Drimmel to take the gimping down a little if it bothers me. From all the video's I've seen this handle shape caught my eye, not to mention the price. The biggest factor was your review of this knife and Preparedmind101, Wingman115.

brian did your SCHF 37 come bent ? i heard a lot of people complaining about schf37 carboon steel and stainless versions comming bent or having heat treatment problems ( broken tips edge shatters and so on )

Their good Brian but until they start using the 0170-6C again I won't buy any Scrades, the 0170-6C was one of the steel's of the vintage U.S.A. Made Knives it's also known as the 1095 CroVan Ka-Bar uses them in the Becker BK'S and they are not that expensive but hold's a greatvedge, why can't Schrade start using a proven great edge retention steel, it's shouldn't increase the price after all the Becker's are excellent knives they use it when it was Camillus Becker's and now when their Ka-Bar Becker's why argue with success !!!

I'll leave this one alone. There are so many different types of steel now and I know so little about the subject. All I can say is I have had good experience with my Schrades so far.
