Love the video! Empire of silence is definitely going on my to read list, and a lot of the others sounded really interesting too! One of my favorite sci-di series is the skyward series by Brandon Sanderson. It’s a light and easy ya read with really fun characters, plot, and a lot of cool lore completely separate from the cosmere (at least as far as we know). Another great sci-fi book is one of if not my favorite book of all time: The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August. It’s a really poignant and action packed historical sci-fi following a man who is reborn every time he dies. It’s a bit more fantasy, but it’s really good and has one of the best twists I’ve ever seen at the end. Tw on that one for suicide and torture.

Jurassic Park is one of my favourite books! I was gifted a necklace with the quote "Life breaks free" by Ian Malcolm from the book. Flowers from Algernon was also amazing, and so heartbreaking. My husband and I are reading The Toll this month, which is the 3rd in the Arc of a Scythe trilogy, which we are really enjoying. We also really liked Ready Player One. We are trying to listen to Ready Player Two but it keeps getting returned to the library and then we have to wait to listen to it! Hopefully, it will be available in 2 weeks, as we are taking a mini trip, 5-hour drive south from us. The Martian is also so awesome!

I have Children of Time on the TBR. Have read Three Body Problem. Complex, slow-start, hard to know where it is going, but part of the draw is figuring out what is happening. Really enjoyed it. And Jemisin book is excellent. And Bourn is good---I just loaded Jeff's Hummingbird Salamander book onto my Kindle yesterday thanks to someone who said it kept him reading well into the night. And have read Jurassic Park--don't expect it to follow the movie. :) Flowers for Algernon is poignant. As she said, it is beautiful. Have read Girls with Sharp Sticks--unlike the reviewer, I found where it was going painfully obvious. "Painful" because there was no subtlety whatsoever in the book, and I'm genuinely puzzled as to why reviewers would say it had many plot twists that could give you "whiplash" , or that you'd never see coming. Even the back of the book hints pretty strongly at what will happen. And the poetry is horrible--no need to interpret ambiguous phrasing; what the poems mean is also obvious. The author uses a sledgehammer rather than a rapier to make her points. Check The Shades of Orange booktuber for sci-fi recommendations (she does horror as well). I downloaded quite a few new books based on her recommendations.

@@BreakevenBooks Read Children of Time now. Apparently, I read it long long ago because I recognized parts of it; and i even knew how it would end once I got to the final chapter. But, it was good to reread it as most of it I couldn't remember. I liked it so much I started Children of Ruin right away (first chapter done).

Children of Time's comming up in alot of these book lists so amazons open in a seperate window also Machineries of Empire so both'll be downloading to ma kindle this evening.
