In a culture that is fixated on outward appearances, it is often easy for Christians to show favoritism within the church. As people who have been shown abundant grace by the Lord Himself, we should be most willing to show grace to those around us. Drawing from the wisdom of James, Alistair Begg urges Christians to treat all people with respect and dignity, regardless of their education, finances, social standing, or race.

A single comment.. A shame for such an uncomfortable/important subject. An observation on favoritism, maybe partiality as well as the receiver many times might look for it from you, then enjoy it if it is received. I thank God for the conviction that comes after I give it or when in the midst of the request for favoritism I feel that tug inside that gives me pause in real time, that is indeed uncomfortable to deny the request. Many times after trying to explain partiality, eyes gloss over after they first few words in not showing partiality, it is in the bible I say. Sometimes it goes well, sometimes not. I thank God for conviction, such a wonderful way of communication. Who can know the ways. A very good sermon, felt like your were talking to me. Thank you.

It is better to be of a lowly spirit with the poor than to divide the spoil with the proud. Proverbs 16:19 Better is a poor person who walks in his integrity than one who is crooked in speech and is a fool. Proverbs 19:1 a poor man is better than a liar. Proverbs 19:22b Better is a poor man who walks in his integrity than a rich man who is crooked in his ways. Proverbs 28:6 What is the proper percentages of: a . a rich man that is crooked. b. a poor man without integrity or the probability that integrity in a person could cause losses. c. that habitually telling the truth could cause you loss. d. that lowliness of spirit is less aptly found among the rich. There seems to be many assumptions in the Word in these "wisdom" verses. Are they accurate? If not, wouldn't it be stupid to have these verses in the Bible as proverbs of wisdom. He has shown strength with his arm; he has scattered the proud in the thoughts of their hearts; he has brought down the mighty from their thrones and exalted those of humble estate; he has filled the hungry with good things, and the rich he has sent away empty... Luke 1:52,53 Why would the proud in heart to be equivalent to the rich, mighty on thrones; and those in humble estate appear to hungry? Would you give any preference of seating to a President, regardless of his being an arrogant liar, a thief or lacking in integrity. Not that this is even remotely a possibility.
