I'm so impressed by this video! There are so many new books for me to read! I always find myself struggling to chose something to read and its so nice that you included audio books in your video.

I love all of Sarah Waters' books, but Affinity is by far my favourite. I read it 20 years ago and I can remember where I was at the shout-out-loud shock...Yes, yes, yes to The Bedlam Stacks! I also loved Exposure. Helen Dunmore wrote a tremendous range of novels: I recommend The Siege, in particular. Thanks for video.

Great list! I've found that my taste in books has a good amount of overlap with yours, so I was especially excited to hear about your favorites of the year. There are several of these that are also favorites of mine, and I'm looking forward to checking out some of the ones I haven't read!

I took your advise and picked up Natasha Pulley.... I have to agree with you they are wonderful. I finished 'Watchmaker" and moved on to "Bedlam", which I really did not like. I found it too predictable. BUT, I can't wait for her next, from what I hear it has peaked my curiosity. Plus what that lady does to research her books absolutely blows me away. Thanks for the suggestion. Lee K.

So glad that Once Upon a River + Assassin's Apprentice made it onto this list as I adore both books. I recall you mentioning Deerbrook last year and have it written down to check out in future. Such a vast array of literature on this list. I'll have to get to a few of these at some point. Hope 2020 brings as just many your favourites your way and is rather marvellous.

I found your channel from a recommendation, because I'm attempting to get more into classics this year. You completely sold me on your love for Assassin's Apprentice by Robin Hobb. I read the last (16th) book in the series last year, and Robin Hobb has become one of my favorite authors. I also read Everyn Hugo last year and loved it for the same reasons you mentioned.

I suppose it isn't too surprising, but a lot of our books overlap this year! I have to film and post my favorites video soon. I can't wait for the Lost Future of Pepperharrow! And I'd like to read The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo as well. Also, so many of your December books made this list!

This was fantastic Katie! Wonderful video/mini reviews 😀. I have Watchmaker on Kindle so I want to get the audio somehow and I will definitely listen to it in time to get the next one (expecting that I love it). I also want to read Thirteenth Tale this year (since I only read a third during that readalong 🙁) and I just placed a Book Outlet order that includes Once Upon a River so I am even more excited for it now! I completely understand what you mean about the Wonder and how it gave you symptoms. I haven't read that one yet but I have read (and LOVE) Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon and since that book is about a girl who is housebound due to illness I needed to read as much of it outside as possible to feel like I could breathe. Wonderful video as always! 😀❤️📘🎉

"Once upon a river" was also one of my favourite reads of 2019 :) And since you like victorian novels I highly recommend you to read "The silent companions" by Laura Purcell. It has a very dark atmosphere, a variety of characters, jumps back and forth in time and has a brilliant ending. Another book I highly recommend is "The forgotten garden" by Kate Morton. And definitely adding "The wonder" to my never ending TBR pile 😁
@katiejlumsden4 жыл бұрын
Once Upon a River is just amazing! As is The Wonder! I have indeed read The Forgotten Garden and loved it - although that was about ten years ago, and I don't remember it well! I actually got The Silent Companions for Christmas, so I'm really looking forward to that.
