I think Tim&Lucy were meant to be together when she was his Rookie and later. She was always there for him when he needed her. It just had to take it's time to happen to them.

We see them on the job but we need to see them take trips, have time with Tim family and see them babysitting Genny, Herper, Lopez kids to see how they are with kids.. They are perfect together on the job but off job , as couple baseball games and Lucy place. They could spent time at Tim place , see Kojo and Tamera around... Block out heat waves, its cute hanging out at Nolan place because he had A/C electricity, see them watching the games ....
