Regarding the right hand bends, I deliver fuel to the Texaco garage in Alston on a 44Ton truck, on my return I physically have to put the cab on the wrong side of the road(left hander for me)9 minutes on video…to get the trailer round, and it’s blind… I drive round very slowly with my horn on constantly, so bikers, think about me coming round that bend!!!! Nice video Reg.

I live just off the A686 near Penrith since moving up from Hampshire in Dec 22, yep it's a fab road. I love coming down it, front trail braking the turns really sets the bike up for quick riding. Even my Triumph Trophy and Himalayan are fun to ride it. You have good road positioning, 👍

It's a beautiful route for a ride. What I really notice about a lot of these videos from your part of the world is the complete lack of traffic and the condition of the roads. There are barely any other cars/vans/trucks, and the roads are in much better condition. In Kent, where I am, there is a constant assault of hazards in the form of traffic and poor road condition. Very envious indeed!

I'm from Kent too. You have to get up really early at weekends to get any chance of a decent traffic free run out. I'vd done Hartside several times, but I prefer east of Alston and across the border into Co. Durham. This loop, and all the roads within it, are a real treat - maps.app.goo.gl/jKBbQfrX6CAQetsL8

If you are on an adventure bike with a bash plate just west of the pass there is a narrow road which goes north and north west to Castle Currock. The view as you turn off the main road onto the narrow unnamed road is stunning. A lovely ride all the way to Talkin Tarn but beware of tractors as it is very narrow in places. Go back to Newcastle along the Clattering Causeway.

I came through Berwickshire and Northumberland last week on my way back from the Highlands. Great, traffic free roads - maps.app.goo.gl/yPugUB2HzPXzx3Cb7

I personally I would not want to do those speeds up or down Hartside. Its bends are sharp and a lot of large vehicular traffic use them but also others who do not appear to know which side of the road to take a bend on and that alone can make life difficult especially for motorcyclists .So being very wary of these and other factors I would suggest that one goes slower with less off or wrong siding taking place which usually means an increased speed to be obtained between the more severe bends. By al' means enjoy the road. enjoy the ride, enjoy the scenery and by going slower enjoy life. Longer. Just enjoy. the fact that you are riding a motorcycle and breathing air. Don't go for thrills as that leads to spills and ends up with Kills.

I ride this at least twice a week in summer and ive done so for over 35 years its a great rode but often too many knobbers on it who have ambition but insufficient skill.
