Sorry I couldn’t catch your live today. Enjoyed watching it back this evening however. You did a great job of summarizing your favourite summer patterns. It would be great to take part if you do a live again sometime. Greetings from Vancouver Island. Beautiful and sunny today with a high of 25 Celsius and a slight breeze☀️.

So sorry I missed this! I had an appointment. Watched it while sewing this evening and I kept wanting to comment! I have used merino wool of differing weights for lots of active/adventure wear tops for my adult kids, hubby and a couple of friends. All recipients ❤ their garments. At least 2 that were made during pandemic days have worn out or required mending. None of the recipients washes them carefully. They love them for odor resistance, warmth in the cold and comfort in the warmth.

Hi Janine, Sorry I missed your live, was about 6 am Friday morning here in NZ. I have sewn a few garments with Merino knit, its great for the cold winter months we are currently experiencing here at the moment. Nothing like a Calgary winter though! I work in a store here in Taupo, NZ where we sell a great range of jumpers or sweaters you probably call them that are made with Merino wool blended with Possum fur. Our possum is a pest here and the fur is gathered and blended with the merino wool to make a beautifully warm jumper. I live in them at this time of year. Love your channel.

New Zealand is known for its merino wool, isn't it? Those jumpers made with merino wool and possum fur must be really lovely and soft. Thank you so much for watching! Maybe next time I'll schedule for a bit later so you're able to watch.

Congratulations on a great LIVE! Sorry to have missed it today. I just finished a LN Rhapsody in a lovely mustard Atelier Brunette double gauze I got from Ric Rack - it is Rhapsody# 5 😂😂.

Not possible for me to watch live but loved your catch up on your makes (would have been 03:00 for me, lol). I would recommend try sewing linen knits for a cool summer fabric. It takes some skill and is pricy but, wow, makes great summer tees and tanks! ❤ Suzanne

Thank you, Suzanne! Maybe next time I'll try something a bit later so others in your part of the world can join in. I had a linen knit RTW top once and it felt so nice on the skin. Thanks for sharing this option for warm weather clothes.

Helloooo! Happy you posted this, as I missed the live. I like the swim dress idea. Where did you find that pretty swim fabric? Yes, Rhapsody is a great top!
@JanineSews5 ай бұрын
Thank you for watching the replay! I bought that fabric at FabricMart Fabrics in PA in 2021. I would check FabricMart and JoAnn in the US. Both have swim fabrics in pretty prints right now, and they're probably about ready to go on end of summer clearance. If you're in Canada, Fabricland, Our Social Fabric, Discovery Fabric and Fabric and Flow are the ones that come to mind.

Love your sewing garments. Thank you. I found the Power of sewing with Ron Collins and Betzina on You Tube. Have you followed them?. Ron did the denim pocket demo on the jean jacket. I was impressed and so happy yo get the tips from them.

Thank you, Elsie! I really enjoy the Power Sewing videos. They're fun to watch and are informative. I especially like that they get right to it and always show such good tips.

Hello Janine, can you share more info on the bootstrap body form you mentioned in the stream. I would like to learn more and don’t know where to look for it. Thanks
@JanineSews5 ай бұрын
Hi! Here is a link to Bootstrap Fashions. They offer a body shape that is personalised to your measurements. You send in the measurements and they send you the pattern pieces. patterns.bootstrapfashion.com Some of the members of my sewing group have used this pattern to create their body model and they all raved about it. I'm thinking about trying it. Maybe that could be a fall project for a group of us online?

Do you ever buy fabric online and if so, what are your favorite sites.
@JanineSews5 ай бұрын
Kasey, I do buy fabric online. Not so much now because there are a number of stores in my city but in the past I've bought a lot of fabric online. I prefer stores that give very good descriptions of the fabric including the fabric weight. It's also helpful if they include videos of the fabric moving so you can get an idea of the drape. There are good deadstock stores in most countries but you don't always know what you're going to get so it's a bit of a chance. Although the prices are always good! My favourite sources online are: 🇨🇦 In Canada: L'oiseau Fabrics (mostly knits), Discover Fabrics (technical fabrics), Core Fabrics (everything), Rick Rack Textiles (everything). For bargains, I will shop at Our Social Fabric. They carry mostly deadstock fabric so you never know what they will have on stock but it will always be a good prices. 🇺🇸 In the USA: StyleMaker Fabrics (I have bought mostly knits from this store and have been very happy), and FabricMart Fabrics (another store with deadstock - prices are very good). Other stores that friends have shopped with a really like are Mood Fabrics, Stone Mountain and Daughter, Promenade Fabrics (New Orleans), and Vogue Fabrics just outside of Chicago. 🇬🇧 In the UK: I have only ever purchased online from Minerva.com. I know people who buy a lot from Guthrie & Ghani and Fabric Godmother. Hopefully others will chime in!

I'm new to you. I enjoy your channel but your acronyms confuse me . what is tnt? Others I can't understand. Please define the acronyms. Thank you . ❤
@JanineSews5 ай бұрын
Thank you for watching and I appreciate the reminder to define abbreviations before I use them. A TNT is a 'tried and true' pattern. One that has been used many times and is known to fit well. Another acronym I used was FBA which is a Full Bust Adjustment.

I enjoy your channel and sewing videos. One thing: please correct your pronunciation of “challis.” It is pronounced “shalee.” Thanks.
@JanineSews5 ай бұрын
Thanks Karen! There are a couple of different ways to pronounce 'challis'. I pronounce it the British/Canadian way. I hadn't heard anyone pronounce it 'shallee' until I moved to the US!
@karenprovost20355 ай бұрын
@@JanineSews oh didn’t know it is pronounced differently in Canada. I googled how to pronounce it before correcting you, that’s how I got the phonetic spelling. I apologize for correcting you. I am a former fabric buyer for an independent fabric store where I learned from the fabric company reps.
@JanineSews5 ай бұрын
@@karenprovost2035 Oh Karen, no need to apologise! 🙌 I was confused when I first heard it pronounced differently in the US. I actually quizzed a bunch of Canadian and British friends in case it was a really localised pronunciation from Calgary. Because my husband is American, we have lots of 'disagreements' over how to properly say things. 😊
