I’ve worked in a hotel and some people do arrive with the mindset that everything is the hotels responsibility. It’s as if they expect you to be able to plan their entire day for them when all you can really do is give advice. And then of course you get people that intentionally complain in an attempt to get some sort of discount or be given free stuff. It’s down to the individual and some believe they’re paying for a service and others just see that they’re paying for a room. It is a fascinating job to have, I had a job that combined the responsibilities of the doorman the porter and the concierge so I was the first person guests would meet and deal with and you get some who expect a lot of you and come to you for everything and then some don’t want anything from you at all. You learn so much about humans it’s definitely a life lesson that helps you understand people better. I even had guests complain about the view but I don’t know what they want me to do, move the building to the left or something 😂

It was voted as the best TV comedy of all time, in fact in writing classes its often shown as the text book way to write a comedy. It was based on a real hotel the Monty Python team were staying in while filming. I'd say, if you're going to watch it, I'd start at the beginning.

The mane of the episode is Communication problems 🙂 the full episode lasts half an hour and its one of my favourites, an Interesting fact is that Basil and Polly( waitress) actually wrote the all the episodes together as they were married in real life at the time, they later divorced and it explains why there are only 12 episodes in total.

Great Reaction,as usual to one of our greatest-ever UK comedies. As, nearly, always, only 2 Series get out at the top leaving the audience wanting more. There's only 2 seasons, 6 episodes in each. I would suggest you start at the begining, series 1 ep. 1. This sit-com is almost perfect. I re-watch several episodes every year, and still laugh my head off! It is on UK tv on some channel every week of the year. Not bad for a '70s sit-com.

This brilliant and much beloved British comedy series has been rerun at least 10 times on each of our public service TV stations over here in Scandinavia - and even though we know most of the lines by heart by now, we are still laughing ourselves to bits 😂 So much better than anything else that has been produced in this TV genre since then - with "Blackadder" and "Yes, (Prime) Minister" as the only exceptions.

There are two seasons with twelve episodes in total. An idea for you you can watch the full episodes as they are readily available. The series is available on iTunes. They also periodically play the series on television. Otherwise you can get the audio version also available on iTunes. With the audio version each episode has an introduction from John Cleese. If KZbin is blocking you you can watch/listen to the episodes and then discuss it showing whatever clip you choose.

A great reaction! Just like all of your reactions, this was super entertaining! Fawlty Towers was a 1975 British sitcom that ran for two 6 episode seasons about a hotel owner in the small town of Torquay (tor-KEE). It stars John Cleese from Monty Python's Flying Circus as the owner, Basil Fawlty, and was co-written by him and his real-life wife, Connie Booth, who plays the woman at the reception desk. The line that you were trying to hear was him making a reference about the view not including "herds of majestic wildebeasts". The humor style is what I think of as "frustration humor". :) I suggest the best thing to do from your point of view would be to react to episodes by watching the whole episode, and then putting it up in sections that you think fit together well, which would allow you to get the jokes better and also avoid getting blocked. It would also allow you to set the length of the reactions. Great!!!

I believe there were 12 shows (40 min) and they were repackaged as 4 shows (2 hrs) for DVD. You really should not be watching the clips as you loose all sense of character and story development. Wife and husband Connie Booth (at the desk in this clip) and John Cleese (the manager) spent over twice as long writing these shows as any other comedy series on BBC which is why they are so tight and constantly hilarious. You are doing yourself a huge disservice not watching them in order from the beginning. And as the 12 separate shows if you can find them packaged that way.

I worked at a conference center as a security officer which had 250 bedrooms for people who were attending courses. I wouldn't tolerate people being rude or obnoxious to staff and would remove them from site. I once had a university professor who was so far up his own arse that he almost turned inside out. He had one of the staff in tears. He lasted 30 minutes. There's no excuse for rudeness. Fawlty towers is classic. Great reaction. ✌️♥️🇬🇧

You're soaking up a culture that doesn't really exist. This is a caricature with exaggerated traits However the hard of hearing gag has been in place for longer than I dare to guess. That part is everyday living in some families, and we still have big laughs at saying stuff just out of hearing range that other folks have to work hard to keep a strait face. I've been close to getting myself and others in trouble with a quick humour, but you don't want to hear about that. It's real entertainment seeing you trying to learn from Fawlty towers. Ican recommend with great caution, a character called Sir Les Patterson. He is everything vile, and vastly exaggerated about Australians. Played by a comedian actor known as Barry Humphries, who's also played an old lady called Dame Edna Everage. Both characters are Ausie's, but fer opposite ends of social decency. Both are very very funny and take getting used to. You've already reacted to Billy Connolly with Parkison, well Sir Les Patterson has also been a guest of that show. As I said, recommended with caution. His humour can be vulgar, but more in suggestion than actually spoken. Will email you later tonight. (UK time, between 0300 and 0400 hrs) With answers while I remember. TTFN. Oh yeah, Basil comes from Swanage. A real town, not imaginary for the show.

No, you are getting this comedy series confused with the Monty Python's Flying Circus" silly sketch shows. There are unfortunately only two seasons ( 1975 & 1979) of Fawlty Towers, each consisting of six episodes - so just 12 episodes in all, but they are all comedy gold. You really need to watch each episode in its entirety to understand the whole plot instead of just watching all these loose clips.

Very politically incorrect sitcom. Two series, with 6 episodes each. Husband ( John Cleese ) and wife ( Connie Booth ) co-wrote the script in a matter of weeks. Clearly a Python ( John Cleese ) got involved in the script. Voted the best British sitcom. Of all time. You should also watch Top Gear. More specifically, the 2003-2015 format. With hosts Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May. Viewership, during its height of success : 350 million.

I think Amercans have been conditioned to a simple, unrefined kind of humour, almost baby like. The audience laughing at every inane or fatuous remark. This sitcoms is more subtle and addresses many class, and cultural aspects of British life. Irony, and the absurdity of situations are amplified to an almost monstrous level, but still keeping it within the creams of realism. Alternatively it could be it's not your taste. Humour that's more direct or obvious might be something that you find more appealing. Try watching black adder, if you don't find thst funny, nothing will.
@BetterEveryDayYouTube

America is massive, and there are countless different humor/people types within it. Humor is subjective as well, which is what makes it so great. The only person I know to share my humor is my brother. With English humor, I don't have the same social/cultural background and am not familiar with some of the topics or jokes. Especially the earliest stuff I reacted to.
