Thank you so much. It's great that you took the time to show us around the board.I bought one 3 weeks ago, £370, with a pair of JBL studio speakers, and a stand thrown in. Mint condition with original box. Wanted one for years, never thought I'd get one. I'm after another now. Yamaha has made some great synths, so overlooked and underrated. I now own an AN1X, EX7, CS1X, CS2X, CS 5.Love em.

thank you!!! I bought my An1x back in 1997. I have the synth in perfect condition, and have composed many songs with this great synth. I will never sell it, nor replace it. I am planning a major show and will use it live.

It's been discovered that if you use a higher resolution external controller/ encoder & map it to the filter on the AN1x, the Filter sweep will be buttery smooth!!!
@faxinadu5 жыл бұрын
yes it seems that internally it is smooth, just the synth's knob itself is not smoothed
@xoio3 жыл бұрын
@@faxinadu - And in fact... press the knob down while you turn it & it WILL smooth it out as well! The synth 'can' do it after all.

Hello, and thanks for another no-bs piece of coverage. I'm wondering if you could help with some advice, as I've kind of hit a snag hunting for VA. I'm quite drawn to the Novation KS line's multi-timbrality and 3 OSC per voice, to say nothing of the KS5's knob-per-function and MIDI capabilities. And there's one VA whose pads I absolutely adore - it's the gorgeous Korg MS2000b... but I already own a Minilogue, so getting a 4-voice digital from the same maker sounds kind of dumb and luxurious at this point. I guess before I finally decide on the AN1X, I wanted to ask if you ever get hampered by the lack of multi-timbrality on it compared to other VAs? And what are your views on the synths mentioned here? Peace and happy holidays!
@faxinadu7 жыл бұрын
hey mate! the ks5 is very cool! that's a nice option :) personally i didn't click so much with the ms2000 somehow. filters sounded strange to me and the envelopes felt kinda odd/slow. i personally don't use multiple timbres often since i work in a studio setting and record one line at a time mostly so i can't really say about that. each of the synths you mentioned here are cool in their own right and have a unique flavor. if the ms2000 turns you on don't put off getting it just because you already have a korg - it does not sound like the minilogue and provides another tone.
@pqlr87637 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the insights man. Anyway...I found one of the last three remaining AN1Xs in all of Russia (for just $400 as well, kaching!), and for its sound and vintage status, I just felt like it was the better buy than the plastic-looking KS that no one really cares to "show off". Maybe there'll be space for a KS rack later on, but, the AN1X just has that darker-sounding appeal you really gotta have in hardware form, so you don't feel too bad later on when they're all gone. I would've gotten the JX-10 for that same reason, but only like 5 controllers for it remain in the wild... stupid Roland :)

I picked up an AN1x a few months back after previously owning one in the early 2000's. It sounds better than I remembered, the Filter(s) blow away my DSI analogue. I have a basic question, can anyone advise how to change the setting so LFO modulates the filer cutoff? I can't figure out where this is and have reviewed the manual.

The Yamaha AN1x is a beast..... and here is why ---> Faxi Nadu - Yamaha An1x Review / Messing Around / Demo

One thing I could never turn my head around is the FM implementation in this synth! Whats bothered me the most is the negative fm amount which I couldnt understand, as I had to realize that thats nothing to do with the "standard" DX approach.. Maybe it is to set the frequency of the 'modulator' (osc2 etc.) cause you dont have the classic coarse and fine parameters like in the dx7 for instance. Anyway yesterday I've got myself another AN1x from which I will never part, not again!! :DD
@faxinadu10 жыл бұрын
akos bacso well it is the va kind of way for fm, with just two oscs.

Hey, thanx for your video. I have a very important question. It should be simple, but it doesn´t work for me. I´ve tried to load two different sounds on scene 1 and scene 2 by pressing "scene 1" then a number and then "yes." Then I do the same thing in scene 2 only with another number. Then I go back to scene 1 and it doesn´t load the first number, but the last sound i copied. Is that a failure on my synthesizer or do i press something wrong?
@faxinadu8 жыл бұрын
+Sara ægidius afaik each preset contains both scenes, im not sure you can load one scene from one preset and another scene from another preset.
@gossamyr8 жыл бұрын
You are correct Faxi, This synth doesn't have a performance mode where you combine programs (EX5, Karma, Tetra, Micron, etc)

i saw this on the second hand market, very cheap price, i wanna ask if this synth have piano sound , electric piano sound ? how can i edit my own sound ? it through a usb cable to the computer or midi in out ?
@xoio9 жыл бұрын
It's a SYNTH, not a ROMpler. It makes abstract electronic sounds. Everything from evolving organic ambient space pads to, ripping trance leads and Basses. If you want a piano sound... Look elsewhere. That being said, it can produce some nice 'rhodes' and other electric piano 'type' sounds.
@faxinadu8 жыл бұрын
yes! not bad rhodes and fm type pianos :)

how you get editor window so big bro?
@faxinadu10 жыл бұрын

@taaviviikman86488 жыл бұрын
I like the synth. But it is digital and sounds digital, which I too like. But using an editor on computer for such a large hardware digital synth just gets beyond me, I do not see the point. Same things can be achieved in many digital workstations. If I own hardware, there is supposed to be a reason. I still love my Yamaha Rm1x, what a beast for polyrhytm sequencing.
@wax8310 жыл бұрын
I sold mine last year and I really miss it it just doesn't compare to my ms2000 in terms of analogueness & fullness of the tone! Btw you had cheated a little bit in the demo when you were showing the filter you used an "Init Patch" which wasnt really initialized as it had heavy hard sync which obviously gives you plenty of harmonics to filter..! Pretty trick too misguide the poor VA synth seekers! :D Joking..
@faxinadu10 жыл бұрын
it is an init sync patch. init doesn't mean no sound ;) if you are gonna demonstrate a filter do it with harmonics, not much to show with a sine :). anyways, i sold my ms2000 so i guess we differ.i found the ms2000 to have a nice grunge sound but crappy response, slow envelopes and really bad filter behavior on high reso. you are right, you can't compare, the an1x is a beauty of design while the ms2000 is a half assed as usual korg product. imo anyways.
@wax8310 жыл бұрын
Faxi Nadu That is my opinion on Korg va synths too, the ms2000 was a teenage dream synth to mee and now its kind of a dissapointment.

@@faxinadu I think the MS2000 is a classic example of a synth that people "hear" with their eyes. I owned one and didn't really delve too deeply into it before I decided that it wasn't a synth I needed to keep. As soon as I heard the AN1x I said to the bloke selling it, that I had a feeling it was a future classic. I stand by that judgement.
