She explained to Shalltear that she intends to keep him for an entire day. Also, she refrained from dissolving his throat with his acid to muffle his screams to avoid having him suffocate and die too quickly. Instead, she inserted part of her body in his throat to muffle his voice (as that would be annoying).

Episode 011 This chapter must have been the hardest to animate because it introduces a lot of LORE, but I think they did a decent job. But still I will try to explain some things without falling into the spoiler. When Nabe communicates with Ainz she is seen wearing rabbit ears, this is actually a spell that many mages can use to increase hearing. Nabe uses them because she doesn't have thief or assassin skills to detect hidden enemies, so that way she can make sure no one is hiding to hear her. In the novel, Ainz also uses the spell on occasion, albeit with some embarrassment. When Ainz, disguised as Momon, hears what the Adventurer's Guild report about Shalltear, he wanted to do his best to divert attention and was about to tell them that that vampire's name was actually Carmilia, but then he remembered that This name is widely used in games or Anime for female vampires and if a player from their world heard it, they could deduce that Shalltear is someone from Ygdrassil. So, flustered and hurried, Ainz made up Honyopenyoko's name without thinking of anything specific, except that it sounded completely different from Shalltear and Carmilia. Hence the name he invented is so silly. Adventurer Igvarge was a real piece of trash. He originally wanted to become a hero, to do so he didn't mind resorting to dirty tricks like spreading false rumors about himself or using his companions as meat shields. For him all the others were mere steps for him to reach the top. However, he was a hard worker and trained intensely, which caused him to intensely dislike Momon, who seemingly appeared out of nowhere and attained his mithril class in a single adventure. In the novel, Igvarge ran away alone when Albedo set out to kill all of his team members, but he unknowingly ended up trapped by one of Mare's spells. Mare then pinned him down and killed him by crushing his skull with his staff. Yes Yggdrasil was exactly that kind of game. In the East (in todays day and age) Players are more accustomed to/more favorable towards Pay 2 Win because they see it as skipping the grind. In Yggdrasil you could do all kinds of stuff except buy Gold (the in game Money) , but you could buy Gold Boosts and stuff like that and the Horn of the Goblin General of which Enri has 2 are trash Gacha items. The Rage scene is so fucking sick imo because the suppressant couldnt supress his emotions AND we see how much destructive power (his Strength Stat) a level 100 Mage has even though his STR stat should be quite low. The treasury door was designed by Tabula Smaragdina, the creator of Albedo, who as we know loved the Gap Moe very much. But he also had others passions and one of them was Alchemy, to the point where his player name meant "Emerald Tablet" which is a very famous Greek text on the subject and was believed to contain the secret to making the Philosopher's Stone. The password that Ainz pronounces is the translation of the line that is in Latin and that is a fragment of this Tablet. Even his three creations are also based on the Emerald Tablet. And since we talked about it, I should tell you that, although in the Anime they take too many time to mention it, Albedo has two sisters. The three were named and designed as an allegory to the three processes of Alchemy: Nigredo (putrefaction), Albedo (purification) and Rubedo (reconstitution). To this day we know almost nothing about Rubedo, except that she is very powerful and hides on the eighth floor. But we do know about Nigredo, who is an NPC specialist in magic detection and in the novel she is the one who locates Shalltear. An important detail that many do not notice is the ease with which Albedo orders "kill" Tabula Smaragdina when she recognizes that he is an impostor. Because even Yuri Alpha, the Battle Maiden, is a little hesitant to attack someone in the guise of a Supreme Being. Ainz attributes it to Albedo's great ability to make decisions, but it could also reflect that, as I already mentioned in chapter 5, she is not absolutely loyal to her creator like other NPCs, who always put first the orders of the person who designed them before those of other "Supreme Beings". Ainz Embarrassment is what gets suppressed here surely around 20 times. ------------------ The second half of this comment is in the replies ----------

Now let's talk about Pandora's Actor. He is a doppelganger that has the power to mimic the forms of the 41 members of the Ainz Ooal Gown guild with 90% effectiveness. When Ainz created it he really didn't have anything in mind and just combined a bunch of things that seemed cool to him, but once put together, he found the result a bit embarrassing. His uniform is inspired by that of the Nazis, but before anyone feels offended, let's not forget that Japan and Germany were Allies during the World War II, so his view of them is not as negative as the one we have in West. Furthermore, while after the war the Westerners had to suffer the consequences of the destruction and then the Cold War, the Japanese suffered the effects of the Atomic Bombs that the US dropped on them. In Japan they value strong countries a lot, that's why they are always imitating England (which almost colonized them), the USA that defeated them in 1945 and Germany, which from their point of view is a great country of warriors that dared to face the rest of the world practically alone, twice, and almost won. Of course that is a thing of the past and the modern Japanese are not thinking of killing anyone, waging war or taking revenge on the allies. As I have already told you, they actually admire the US for having defeated them, as they admire all the strong. I'm just telling you that their view of the events in the World War is naturally different from ours. Also, it's fair to say that the Nazi uniforms looked pretty good. For all these reasons there are many young Japanese who admire, not Nazism itself, but the military power of Germany in World War II. Pandora's Actor is an Area Guardian, which means he guards a sector of a floor and not its entirety. There are many of them and some are even more powerful than some Floor Guardians. But the case of the Treasury is special, because it is separated in a different dimension and it is impossible to reach it by any direct route. The only way to get there is by wearing an Ainz Oown Gown Guild Ring. Pandora's Actor's name and theme is seemingly based off of the Greek Myth of Pandora's Box, where a single mortal woman named Pandora was gifted a box that contained all of the world's evils within by the Gods and was specifically told by them not to open it, but due to the Pandora's immense curiosity, she opened it and released all the contents into the world. This, in turn, is the basis to Pandora's Actor's role as the Area Guardian of Nazarick's Treasury, of which he is tasked with protecting the 11 World Items currently housed within that all possess the power to completely alter or possibly even destroy the world. The most significant sentence Pandora's Actor says to Ainz in the novel is: "Indubitably so, Ainz-sama! For as I was made by you, if you desire me to do battle with the other Supreme Beings, I shall charge into the fray without hesitation!" It is at this point that we confirm what I mentioned earlier: Normally NPCs will obey the orders of their creator even before those of other Supreme Beings. Now a new level of Ygdrasill's magic is revealed to us. For level 100 players the 10th tier of magic was the maximum and they had to use it carefully because it consumed a lot of MP and also some spells could consume Experience Points, which meant losing levels. This didn't matter much in the game because a player could recover Experience Points by killing monsters or doing quests, but in the New World it's not that easy. Ainz has many powers and powerful summons that he does not dare to use for fear of not being able to recover the Experience Points that they would cost. Also, there is a kind of eleventh tier of magic, which would be Super Tier Magic, however, its characteristics are different. First it doesn't consume MP, so it's more like a skill. Then there is the problem that they take a long time to cast and then any player of the party won't be able to use it again for a long time. And finally, that some of these magic consume Experience Points. In short, it would be the Special Move in a video game, that attack that takes a lot of health off the enemy if you manage to do it right, but can be easily interrupted. Wish Upon a Star is an Super tier magic that consumes Experience Points, but thanks to the Ring Ainz has he can use it about 3 times for free. In the game, he granted you some random wishes that many times could not be fulfilled and the administrator had to intervene. But in the New World there are almost no limits to what you can ask for. However, this time was unable to remove Shalltear's mind control because it was imposed by a World Class Item. World Class Items are the 200 rarest and most powerful items in the Ygdrassill game. Ainz Ooal Gown's guild has 11 in total and the next ranked guild only has 3. That gives you an idea of how rare it was to have just one of them and how powerful Ainz Ooal Gown was. World Class Items were so powerful because they could alter even game mechanics and each one had different abilities. Now I can tell you that the World Class Item that controlled Shalltear was the dress of the old lady who was killed by the spear of light and it can basically mind control someone even if they have immunity. Among the 200 World Class Items there are 20 that are considered the most powerful, but disappear after being used once (and other players might find the item). In the novel, Ainz mentions that two of the 20 are stored in the treasury, and that one of them could remove Shalltear's brainwashing effect, but he hesitates to use it because it would be lost right after. That's why they have to defeat her. The reason he went to the treasury is because the only way to be immune to the effects of a World Class Item is to hold one yourself. Ainz wants to give one to each Floor Guardian so that they are protected against them. In the next comment I will explain why Shalltear is so powerful. ¡Thank you very much if you read up to this point!

Episode 010 As always I will explain some things that may not have been clear based on the Light Novel material and extra content, always trying not to give any spoilers. Chronologically, these events take place while Ainz is escorting the alchemist and before his confrontation with Clementine. At first they show us Sebastian and the Battle Maid Solution who are traveling to carry out an infiltration mission, but on the way to their destination they are taking the opportunity to lend a hand to Shalltear who has received instructions from Ainz to capture any powerful person among the bandits of the area, because its disappearance would not attract attention. In Nazarick there are no humans (except one) so all its members are monsters or heteromorphs. Such is the case of the Pleiades Solution, the blonde woman who is actually a type of slime like monster called Shoggoth (at least on her Character Sheet it says that), which fights by absorbing her enemies and its a fictional monster from the Cthulu Myth. It is said that her body is empty inside and she can choose to protect or dissolve the things she has absorbed. She can also control the speed of digestion. The fate of the unlucky bandit named Zach will be to spend many days being tortured by the acids of this monster until finally he is digested. The Vampire Brides next to Shalltear are auto-spawn NPCs, which means more of them will spawn even if they die. Peroronchino assigned them to be her "sexual slaves/servants". As I've already mentioned, Shalltear was designed as a cornucopia of fetishes by her creator, one of which is lesbian sadism. During the conversation in the carriage we see again that the NPCs see the players who created them as gods and so funny misunderstandings occur. Shalltear believes that the creator of Aura is a kind of mystical being who imbues inanimate objects with souls to create life. But she is actually a Seiyu or voice actress, who plays the role of characters in Anime and Erotic games. She "brings the characters to life." In the novel and Compilation Movie of the first season, there is an omitted fragment of conversation between the butler and Shalltear. Sebas Tian is worried about the “Blood Frenzy”, Shalltear's passive ability that makes her violent and irrational when she absorbs too much blood and could cause her to fail the mission. Shalltear responds to this in a violent and arrogant way, showing us how overconfident she is. She even seems willing to fight Sebastian to the death if he doesn't back down on her. But in the end, Sebas' fears were true, because we see how Shalltear loses control when she transforms and ends up killing all the bandits that she originally came to capture. The way Shalltear holds Brain's Katana is the coolest, she not only held the sword with her fingers... but she did it from the back! The worst of all is that Brain was using potions to increase his power and also that circle of energy could only be seen by him, that's why Shalltear asks him later if he doesn't know any Martial Art. The disrespect is absolute and it's great. The reason Brain cries is, among many things, that he dedicated his whole life to getting stronger to defeat Gasef, to the point where he didn't mind joining a group of bandits in order to get more chances to fight. And he really believed that he was one of the strongest in the world and he really is, because Clementine mentions him as someone who could put up a fight. But in front of Shalltear he understands that there is a degree of power which he can never reach even if he lives thousands of years. Ergo his lifelong goal "to be the strongest" never made sense. In Yggdrasil, True Vampires have a second form that gives them extra abilities, although they lose others in return. Both leech and gothic lolita forms are the true forms of Shalltear, who can choose which to use based on her needs. A lot of NPCs in Nazarick have a "second form", including Demiurge(which we have seen already) and Sebas. In this episode, two disastrous coincidences happen to Shalltear. The first is that a group of adventurers just came to find the bandits she is hunting and when they see Shalltear, the leader starts shouting instructions emphasizing the words “she is a vampire”. This is because, for security reasons, they had left a "Ranger" hidden among the trees of the forest with the mission of escaping and reporting everything that happened to the Adventurers' Guild, but Shalltear does not realize this until it is very late because she is dominated by her "Blood Frenzy".Since Shalltear is undead, healing potions deal damage to her instead of healing her. Of course it's light damage, but it's enough to irritate her a bit and snap her out of her Blood Frenzy. Yes that is the Redhair girl we gave the Red Potion to in the Adventurers Guild. As Shalltear comes to her senses and runs to capture the Ranger, the next disastrous coincidence occurs: She runs into an elite group who happened to be there by chance. Shalltear doesn't know who they are, but she notices that one of them has as much strength as the Pleiades Solution, which is quite impressive for someone from the New World, because all the Battle Maids are around level 50. She tries to kill them, but it doesn't work out. Nothing good. One of the strangers manages to perform mind control magic on Shalltear even though this should be impossible, as all Undead have a natural immunity to mind control. However, it happened. But luckily, we see that Shalltear managed to kill the person who controlled her just before her spell took effect. That's why she stood still, waiting for orders that would never come. I take this opportunity to clarify a confusion: In the novel we are clearly told that Albedo is the NPC with "the highest hierarchical rank" within Nazarick. But due to a translation error, in at least English,Spanish and German this is often confused with "Albedo is the strongest NPC". Actually, the most powerful NPC in Nazarick is not any of the Guardians, but it is on the 8th floor and we don't know much about it so far, not even in the Light Novels. And the most powerful among the Floor Guardians is Shalltear, that's why Albedo requests so many guardians in order to "exterminate" her. I hope that this has made everything that happened in this episode a little clearer. next episode we get to meet one of the cringiest Characters for both Ainz and me (as a german) but its interesting to see the perspective of Japan towards WW2 with them being seemingly obsessed with germany from that era

The end of the episode is one of those moments when the emotional heart of the series shines through. Albedo and the other guardians aren't just flat NPCs brought alive, they have deep emotions, needs, and trauma of their own. All of them are on some level terrified that Ainz will leave them like the other "gods" did; either because he dies, or gets angry, or bored of them, or simply has the rendom whim of a deity. They look and speak like adults, but often act like dependant children would. And mirroring that (since you have seen the next episode already), is how Ainz is choosing to take on this fight, partially because he couldn't stand to watch the children of his friends fight eachother. Love and lonliness are the core themes here, and they make for a wonderful story with many hidden depths to it. ... and then we get to see two demigods by this world's standards accidentally level a forest as they try and murder eachother. 🎉

A little bit lore about "world (level) items": Yggdrasil (as you may know the term already) is the "World Tree" out of norse mythology, and the foundation on what the lore of the game "Yggdrasil" is based around. In the game, there are a lot of different worlds, all of which being part of the world tree Yggdrasil. Each world is represented in one of its leaves. However: whenever a leaf falls off from the world tree, an item is born. That´s where the name "world item" comes. It´s an item of the condensed power of an entire potential world. There were a lot of them in the game, but "the twenty" were unrivaled in terms of power. And for that reason, all of the twenty could only used once. the guild "Ainz Ooal Gown" possessed two of those items (and so Ainz now also holds them, alongside others) Now, in terms of power, world items are the strongest items in the game, and the Guild "Ainz Ooal Gown" was in possession of af a lot of them (including two of the "twenty"). For example: the red orb in Ainz' chest is actually a world item. They were able to alter the game's very foundational mechanics itself, going as far as allowing the players to make a request to the developers to add/change/remove anything to/in/from the game. Basically some can hold what people would call "literally unlimited, unrestriced power". Due to that nature, in order to counter the effect of a world item, you require to use a world item yourself.

Comment chapter 10 S1 Hello friend, thank you for reacting to this Anime so loved by many. As always I will explain some things that may not have been clear based on the Light Novel material and extra content, always trying not to give any spoilers. First of all, I want to remind you that Overlord is not a typical "good guys" versus "bad guys" anime, but rather an Adams Family type of story, where there is a set world of rules and where the events should have unfolded in a certain direction, but then out of nowhere falls a group of dysfunctional deities that turn everything upside down. Sebastian is worried about the “Blood Frenzy”, Shalltear's passive ability that makes her violent and irrational when she absorbs too much blood and could cause her to fail the mission. Shalltear responds to this in a violent and arrogant way, showing us how overconfident she is. She even seems willing to fight Sebastian to the death if he doesn't back down on her. But in the end, the butler's fears were true, because we see how Shalltear loses control when she transforms and ends up killing all the bandits that she originally came to capture. In this episode, two disastrous coincidences happen to Shalltear. The first is that a group of adventurers just came to find the bandits she is hunting and when they see Shalltear, the leader starts shouting instructions emphasizing the words “she is a vampire”. This is because, for security reasons, they had left a "Ranger" hidden among the trees of the forest with the mission of escaping and reporting everything that happened to the Adventurers' Guild, but Shalltear does not realize this until it is very late because she is dominated by her "Blood Frenzy". As Shalltear comes to her senses and runs to capture the Ranger, the next disastrous coincidence occurs: She runs into an elite group who happened to be there by chance. Shalltear doesn't know who they are, but she notices that one of them is much more powerful than the Pleiades Solution, which is quite impressive for someone from the New World, because all the Battle Maids are around level 46 and 63. I hope that this has made everything that happened in this episode a little clearer. Now I don't want to spoil anything, but for the next chapter I want you to remember a historical fact: In World War II, Japan and Germany were Allies, so the Japanese perspective is a little different. Just keep it in mind.

2:20 You could choose to root for the other people outside of Nazarick. A lot of them actually do have really good character arcs. S1 is my least favorite in the series, one of the reasons being that all the other seasons have more/better character arcs. The only real character arc in S1 is with the adventurer group that Clementine killed. One of my favorite character arcs is at the start of S2. Since Patreon is further ahead than KZbin, I assume you've already started S2 and have met which character(s) I'm talking about. They're some of my favorite characters that aren't from Nazarick
