Fay Godwin (17 February 1931 - 27 May 2005) was a British photographer known for her black-and-white landscapes of the British countryside and coast.
I was the cameraman on this documentary film made in the mid 1980s and shot on 16mm film. Fay was interesting to work with. Her appreciation of light and shade and composition in her photos was an inspiration to me in my film career.
She was not interested in "pretty scenes" and avoided the picture postcard approach, often including junk or rubbish within her work.
This film explores her approach to photography and travels with her to the south east of England and as far as the Scottish Highland.
Digitised from a VHS tape I kept, the quality lacks it's original 16mm film quality unfortunately.
