Fay's Got A Poorly | Fixing a Clean Break

Hi everybody
Fay’s broke a nail 😭.
I’m going to start by removing the stones. I’m then going to prepare the nails as I normally do except the thumb. With the thumb I’m going to remove the acrygel and then I’m going to thin down where the break happened to create a valley. I’m also going to file the colour off the natural nail area so the colour doesn’t interfere with the fill.
I’m going to fill the two acrylic infills as normal with a bit of natural beige and fix up any lifting with colour. On the thumb I’m going in with Clear acrylic and then extending the design backwards and capping that nail in clear.
For the acrygel infills, I’m going to use Base Coat instead of Primer liquid and then go in with the acrygel and a brush with gel residue wipe off solution. You can take your time with acrygel because it only sets in the lamp. I’ll cure that and then I’m going to cap with Clear Acrylic Powder for extra strength. I’ll then file all the nails into shape.

FAY: Andy put a bottle in my hood when we were at cricket a couple of weeks ago. A bottle in my hood cos it was freezing at cricket so he'd got a big coat on. And he put a bottle... he was like just throw us that bottle, Pidge -cos he calls me Pidge- so he put, so he put.. and I was like no And...so he put the bottle- he's like one of Nick's friend's dad- so he's had a few cheerers, he puts the bottle in the hood and I was like...i chased after him going like say "I'll be back". Then he caught my thumb, it snapped straight off then he put it in his eyelid. It was like... But you can imagine I was KIRSTY: -screwing?- Yeah yeah, totally screwing, not taking it as a joke. FAY: Obviously I laughed but I was like I need to leave immediately. And everyone was like...Are you going home? Are you going home? I was like obviously no I'm not going home but I needed to go and sort .. KIRSTY: if there was glue at home, I'd be going home FAY: No, there was glue at home but I knew I could go to Sainsbury's which was closer and just get new glue so I did. But yeah Andy had literally got my nail and put it in the crease of his eye... He was like, I'll pay for it, I'll pay for it. I was like, look Andy, I'm past that. I film with Kirstie Meakin, do you know who she is? I can't just go down the shop and get my nail fixed, Andy. Cos it was new he knew I was absolutely devo (devastated). And his daughter was like... Dad I can't believe you've done that!

Just out of interest, i have googled and can't see anything on this but when your nail grows after applying tips the nail doesn't thin at the sides and when doing infills I realise you need to replace the apex but when it comes to forms (could be that i am not placing them correctly) but when they start to grow out i get a missing step on the underside where your hyponychium is so the nail looks really thin at the side so have to replace the nails, where am i going wrong?

Funny that you should be talking about how damaging/dangerous e-files can be, because I once slipped with the "needle" cuticle tool and jabbed my index finger's cuticle, right in the corner of the thumb side of the nail, and boy HOWDY, did that ever hurt! I haven't used the needle-like cuticle bit ever since! I totally DIG the "Fay/Diva Alert" it's PERFECT for Fay! BTW, I've come to love Fay, too. She might be one _picky-assed_ client, but she's so damn much fun, who cares? I'd be grateful for clients who actually SAY what they want, rather than the kind that sit in the chair staring into their phones, and NOT telling me what they want. I may be decent at figuring out what people actually want when they tell me something else, but I'm not a mind reader! As an American/Californian who was raised by (mostly self-) educated people, I was taught to speak the Queen's English correctly. I was never allowed to say words like, "ain't" or use other incorrect words and slang in everyday language, nor was I allowed to curse. Even using the word "crap" was frowned upon. They were quite insistent about it, too! My great-grandfather always said that cursing was the sign of a poorly educated person with a small vocabulary. He may have been nothing but a "half-breed," (his father was a Scottsman who came to CA for the gold rush, and his mother was a Maidu native American woman,) self-educated blacksmith, but he married a well-educated woman who was a first cousin to Wyatt Earp, at the time a very infamous person. But, it's why my language skills were at college levels by the time I was 12. I consistently got the highest scores in my grade on my standardized tests. There is a KZbinr (mommy vlogger) who has THREE children, and she CONSISTENTLY and incorrectly says "me an'," some name, usually her husband or her kids. It literally sounds like she's calling her husband "mean" when she is talking about them going somewhere or doing something together. I can't tell you how many time I've heard, "Mean John went out last night..." I've tried to convince her that speaking correctly will help her children with standardized testing, not to mention the college aptitude tests (SATs or ACTs) her eldest child will take for the first time in just a year's time. But she won't take my advice, and she probably sees it as nothing but criticism, and her children will suffer for it. They'll probably be in remedial English classes all the way through college. Sad. But I'll never know because I don't have the patience to listen to her bad English all the time. At least MY son didn't have to take remedial English when _he_ was in college!

Size 8 but if you can't get a big bead that's down do your liquid to Powder ration. More liquid in bush. (1 tap) the bigger the bead the less liquid in brush (3 taps) the smaller the bead hope this helps xx

I would say working up to a 1 bead application is what to do. Perfect your technique and then move up to less bead applications.
