To make delicious waterblommetjie Bredie here is what you'll need:
Brown Beef Stewing Meat ( or game meat)
1 kg waterblommetjies cleaned and soaked in cold water for 30 minutes
1kg baby potatoes left whole
2 cups chicken stock or water
Salt and pepper to taste
Blob of Butter
1 cup broccoli florets
1/2 tsp paprika
1tsp corn starch mixed with a little water
For base of stew:
Onions
All spice, cloves, bay leaves and chillies to your taste
Extra special spices
Potjie spice, nutmeg, smoked paprika, origanum to your taste
Worcestershire sauce and tomatoe paste
Method:
Braise your onions and basic Malay Spices
Add your meet and brown
(Add Worcestershire sauce)
Add other spices and cook till meet is dark brown
Add a little stock or water and cook down. ( twice)
Add your potatoes and cook
Then add your waterblommetjies and beans
Cook till soft
Add salt and pepper to taste
Stir in a blob of butter and serve.
