WARNING - this video shows a canal cruise near Tamworth in almost real-time, and so it is very slow paced.

Wonderful. You made my day.

Once again Marvel, I must give you my sincere thanks for your kind words, I truly appreciate it. I know that in future years when I am too old to cruise, I will be so glad that I took the time to create these longer style videos that I can look back on. And I will be grateful that people like you encouraged me to do the work of creating them.

I am watching this video on Friday November 15th and it is currently 27.77C here in Waipahu. It's a partly cloudy day and some nice trade winds blowing through the window. I don't think there has been a "cruel" day here this year. Then again on a "cruel" day you wouldn't find me wearing a long shirt and long pants.

My dear Mr C, I only wear the long trousers because I am forbidden by law to wear any form of trouser which would expose my horribly white and knobbly knees. The law applies in any public place where people might reasonably be expected to be eating. And I do own some shirts that are lighter of fabric, and shorter in the arm- but sadly all of those garments had long since been removed from front line service, on the grounds that they were so utterly filthy that I might have caught leprosy from them. I'm sure some tiresome chap from sub-saharan Africa will pop up and tell me that it was hotter over there, but on that particular afternoon I'm pretty sure Glascote was the hottest point on Earth, if not the solar system. Fortunately I've never complained about weather in any of my videos.

Hi a thing I bought was a dog. Lead with a plastic clip so it goes round my waist goes through the hand. Loop then it clips through the Windlus so it hangs down beside you as i Did what you did get up the ladder to see the Windlus on the stern looking at me so I always have it ready now !!

Why thank you very much for that tip. I have thought of a few different ways of keeping the windlass on me when I'm doing a few locks. A long time ago I actually got a leather holster thingy from Etsy, but my windlass handle tip is so wide that its a real faff squeezing it through the hole in the holster, and so in the end I just started tucking the windlass into my belt, but your idea sounds good. On that lock I was badly distracted by trying out the tracking feature on my camera gimbal, and thats why I forgot the windlass - but to be honest, I have forgotten it a good few times before then!

In order to avoid the midday sun, sunstroke, mad English men and their dogs would it be considered bad etiquette to set off at 6:00 in the summer months? Would your engine wake people and would they be particularly angry?

I suppose one could resort to such unfeasibly early starts, but being awake at 6am has a negative impact upon several of my chakra. So its a religious thing, in a sense. One does occasionally see (or rather hear) these people chugging past at deeply antisocial hours of the morning (and sometime at very late hours). But my already fragile popularity can't afford to take that kind of a hit.

I'm moored up alone, at the top end of the Oxford canal and there's not a boat in sight. AND its a full moon! 😱 If I dont make it through the night, I want you to look after my imaginary shipmate Wilson. He always speaks very fondly of you. Next destination is Rugby, where I will finally be reunited with my dear beloved M+S. No human being should have to go without garlic and coriander beef for this long.

@the_boating_god Wilson already knows he's welcome here.. Thank you for the update. It's so annoying to watch you in lovely weather when I'm freezing to death 🤣. Nice video Tony. I particularly liked the abrubt ending 🙃. I'd just got settled and whoosh you were gone!. Just think M&S have probably got all the lovely Xmas goodies in 😊

I love the M+S xmas range. Its a good job they dont call them pigs in duvets, because I'd feel uncomfortable. It's essentially what I am in winter.
