@@Did_No_Wrong The problem with this statement is that you assume all people are the same as if the same people talking about Yukari now are the same jerks yapping about her back then as if they haven't left the fandom, grown up, matured, and probably dealt with their own form of grief especially with the prior Covid-19 cases. Problem number 2 is that this thing of people selfishly imposing this idea in their heads, on characters, and on other people that there is a "correct" way to grieve is an incredibly, close minded, naive, and an unsympathetic view on how human emotions work. People get mad and sad just for dropping a dang cheetoh on the floor all the time and now all of a sudden when the literal closest person to them dies they're supposed to stick it out through adversity, suck it up, and act like nothing happened like some Persona 5, My Hero Academia ahh character? Yukari's attempt at taking Aigis' key is probably one of the most iconic parts of The Answer. It really solidifes how desperate they care about Makoto and how they would do anything to get him back. Toning that down feels wrong.
@wooseokkim9355 күн бұрын
I agree that scene in the original is better, but I think Reload did good as well. I heard somewhere that scene that Yukari trying to snatch key from Aigis is what caused her to become one of the most hated characters in The Answer. Well, Atlus did tone down the shadow Makoto scene as Japanese rating is really strict now compared to past games where they were uncensored .
@inplane99705 күн бұрын
@@wooseokkim935 Yeah a few people who experienced this period of time attributed it to just plain misogyny. Yukari isn't a traditionally polite female character who just sits idly and lets people make decisions. She gets things done and wont hesitate to do it her way. It just sucks that they muted her character that much in The Reloaded Answer. Her Arcana is the Lovers for goodness sake. She should be the most emotional, fiery, and desperate to get Makoto back. Especially towards Aigis' passiveness and indecisive nature. It creates that huge contrast and the way they both come to an agreement to balance that contrast out is what makes their friendship believable by the end.
@wooseokkim9355 күн бұрын
Still, devs may have limits and did not want to make the Answer controversial again after people did not like the story. I don't know what to say after that, but Reload did good for a remake compared to RE3 Remake where 80% of the Original contents from RE3 Nemesis was cut!!!

@@inplane9970 It is so incredibly odd to me that the people back then apparently said she was out of character??? Like what? How is what happened here any different to how she acted during the Yakushima trip? The only difference is Makoto is a more personal relationship so she's more intense about it. I feel like they just straight up didn't pay attention to her character at all because she has always been an emotionally driven character and she has every right to be when she can't even get the space she needs to grief cause she immediately gets drug back into fighting again. They acted like she has Sakura Haruno character flaws which is incredibly disingenuous and now look at the result we get because of it.
@inplane99705 күн бұрын
@@ShadowOfMassDestruction Yeah people often forget how the events of The Answer happens like right after the base game. Makoto's death is still fresh and the fact that they all can still fight and converse normally is astounding. Yukari can't even be compared to Sakura because both of their relationship dynamics are completely different. Makoto truly helped Yukari through dark times, so it's only natural Yukari would develop an intense bond with him. Whatever feelings she develops from that is unpredictable and that's what makes her compelling. You can tell how much she cares.

Like i get her acting more ruthless and selfish in the og is on purpose as shes grieving hard but it became harder for me to identify with her and probably why many hated her in it but here they make her more empathetic Plus, just reminding the audience that the detail that they can actually travel to the past also at 2:32 also helps contextualise the situation and her postion better as this is a once in a lifetime opportunity adding to her desperation In short i like it

I think the biggest thing that gets me about Reload is how people insist on calling it a Persona 5 clone when it doesn't even introduce enough cool things that Persona 5 did. Sure it was piss easy but the cool features gave it it's own identity. There were a few people who didn't think P3 didn't need a remake while I thought a remake would be great because I thought they would go all out and introduce so many cool new things but no, it kinda just feels like shiny P3 but oversimplified to hfil and back. It really makes me value the things I enjoy that have very clear rough edges, made with a very clear intention that is it's very own uninfluenced by outside voices, like a kid drawing picture that has harsh edges and visible eraser marks. @@narasnek ThoughtBubble did an amazing job breaking down Yukari's nature and her grief but Reload has me talking like Nam's Compendium. I've been trying to defend Reload a lot but this was a genuine disappointment that I just cannot overlook. I've always loved flawed characters that aren't afraid to be unlikable. Just like Obito Uchiha from Naruto or Nadeko Sengoku from Monogatari, Yukari's raw emotion is what made The Answer so impactful for me, they weren't afraid to show how people are when they are at their lowest. Those kind of emotions ARE hard to look at. People hate them and want to live in fantasy land where it's all peaches and cream or whatever flaw that is there they want it covered in pretty rose petals but those emotions are very much real, ESPECIALLY for Yukari who is a girl absolutely driven by emotion. Reload really missed the point of that and decided to listen to the complainers instead of trusting those of us who understand and letting the narrative have it's own voice.

I honestly think the OG answer is much better than this one in so many levels. I couldn't even feel the humanization of Aigis because everything got baby-fied to an incomprehensible level. Edit: What the hell did they do with Yukari's breakdown

Right? I was so excited when I bought this DLC...

Thank god i never got this remake, for me it doesnt make justice to the OG game . The Yukari breakdown was such an important moment in her growth as a person...losing someone so important for her , and besides , she is still young and inmature, wtf Atlus?

I kept seeing people say Yukari's breakdown wasn’t as good as the original because she wasn’t trying to steal the key. But her reaction was just as good if not better at the beginning. How she begged for Makoto back, how she couldn't handle trying to move on without him. Even how Mitsuru comforted and showed how much she cared for her. All of that was heart-wrenching, as it should be for someone who lost someone so dear to them 😢

Mitsuru's perspective on it was excellent but everything else you said og Yukari's dialogue kinda made it more palpable and impactful imo.

@@ShadowOfMassDestruction Sure, the way Atlus handled Yukari’s determination to bring back Makoto was handled much better in Reload, when it came down to Yukari’s breakdown after the fight, I wish they could’ve kept it pretty much similar to the original FES. Yukari’s a teenager going through with losing her father and now losing the person she loved the most so you can’t expect ANYONE to keep a composed face after all of that. The small detail of Yukari desperately trying to grab the true key from Aigis should’ve been kept in because it would show new players just how far Yukari would be willing to go just to see Makoto one last time even if they had to fight Nyx again in order to see him alive again.

Am I the only one who prefers Yukari's reaction to be more composed ? The FES version just irritated me
@ShadowOfMassDestruction7 күн бұрын
@@lucasbenfante That's cool and all for you but me personally my favorite characters in Anime, games, books, anything are the ones that aren't afraid to show their ugly sides especially when that ugly side leads to great development. I loved how Yukari's selfishness was displayed in the og because she was grieving and in a position she didn't want to be drug back to, for a girl who is so driven by emotion it made sense for her character. People's true nature when they are at their lowest is a disturbing sight. It is not easy to look at and most of us just want to live in fantasy land just to get away from that but, that very emotion is what made a scene like this in og so impactful. Now it's just...very minimal...

Wow... How disappointing. My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined. Glad I didn't buy this crap of a flop 'remake'.
