I've restored and modified numerous Fender Amps over the past 35 years. These early 60's Small chassis heads are my favorites. The 6g6 and 6g7 bandmaster top of the list.

Love the history, really adds depth to videos and soul to equipment, thinking where it's been, what it's done and also where it's headed. 👍

The red paint you mentioned at 10:38 is surely a Red Enamel Insulating Paint from Glyptal (formerly a division of GE, but now its own company). It's commonly used on motor parts and other electrical equipment.

Thank you very much for introducing me to the amazing modified bassman and repairing it. Thirty years ago, I had a '61 blonde bassman when I was in college. However, even after graduation, I left it in the music club room, and after a while, the building was rebuilt and I lost it somewhere. It's very regrettable.

Colleen i love the way you work thru problems with amps. This one will be unique and you preserved its story well and gave it your own personal touch by making things solid and dependable again. Hugs for Hank ❤️❤️

The original tube rectified 6G6 is one of the best amps I’ve ever owned. Of the dozens I’ve sold over the years, it’s the one I truly miss. Mine was pristine, with the original ToneRing cabinet. I currently have an early ’64 “Tuxedo “ 6G6-B. As great as it is, I prefer the tonal qualities of the original.

I had a cream Bassman - had been burned in a fire, so the Tolex was gone. But it worked and sounded GREAT. I too it to Dumble, who was offering to modify it. He heard it and refused, saying "this amp sounds amazing, Leo Fender was a genius! Don't touch it - bring me some other crappy Fender that I can rebuild into something cool..." Sadly, I never did!

Big thing Ken Fischer from Train Wreck use to do was 34’s in a Bassman. Just felt and sounded so frigging good after! Sometimes there can be an issue because a 34 pulls a tad more current than a 6L6. .9 on a 6L6 and anywhere’s of 1.2 to 1.4 on an EL34 depending on brand. I still like 1K’s on the screen grids, no matter what.
