My biggest praise for a 3-5-3 defense is the fact that it makes you take advantages of match-ups! Your front 8 have to be very athletic and interchangeable! Knowing the offense you are up against, you can determine what your defense allows or stops! Great presentation!!

The schemes depend HEAVILY on poor presnap recognition from the Qb & O-Line as well as an inability of the O-Line to double team and climb to the second level from the backside. Cut back lanes are a HUGE con of this defense as well. Great presentation & explanation, almost word for word how my D-Co explained it

The 3-5 is designed for spread option offense. we played Brown Deer that ran this defense, we ran an unbalanced wing T offense and ran right through them.

Matthew633 that means the team you were playing didn't have real aggressive, fast athletic kids or the DC didn't install it the right way. I play against 2 teams every year who run wing T and I run a 3-5-3 and we shut them down every time because there blocking assignments get messed up by our alignment. I also have a bunch of dogs on my team to. My 3 DL can literally dominate and take over games by their power & Finess moves and constant penetration into the backfield.

Best adjust to wing-t is to use your stud as a stand up end and inside shoulder everything, blitz the backside gap where the guard pulls and don’t get caught up in the backfield BS. It’s actually a nightmare for wing-t. Unbalanced format is a tough wrinkle for stack teams but it can be adjust to with a good DC

great video coach ive been coaching little league in florida an finally to 13 14 yr olds this fall an im wanting to finally try this defense out we've ran 5 3 and 4 4 for years, an what i like about this defense is in a 5 3 your always sending 5 here u can choose to send 4 5 or 6 guys or just your 3 lineman an still have a cover 4 well we will see this fall yall take care

3 down linemen does not make it easier for an offense to run inside. Quite the opposite in fact as on run downs you have 3 big bodies attacking the interior at the LOS instead of 2 as in 4-front defenses. A DL vs OL matchup is always better than a LB vs OL matchup for the defense.

WVU has thrived in this scheme and it allows an undersized defense to compete and especially versus the spread! It's almost impossible to outflank WVU. Ask U of Texas!
