Double edged sword really. Not disagreeing with you, but knowing that Chinese groups (govt or not) may have dangerous levels of access to various infrastructure systems also means if you piss them off, "something might break.. totally randomly" . If we have close economic ties, they are more likely to threaten and saber rattle than actually hurt their economy. If they don't depend on us at all, they have no reason to listen to us (nicely). Most likely this is inexpensive leverage for them when something like a line or a map becomes an issue. Neither we, nor China, want shipping lanes impacted but neither we, nor China, fully trust the other not to impact them. Poker can be a very annoying game :(

I believe nearly every computer today already has sleeperware, a new form of malware which cannot be detected by existing anti-virus software. It cannot be detected because it slowly complies itself, creating a recipe of sorts from existing legitimate software. Once completed, it executes or sleeps, hidden until within the UEFI until activated from a remote control center.

The only reason why this is an issue, is becauseRepublican governments have hobbled the government’s able to defend itself by indebting our country as far as it has. Thus by giving massive tax breaks to the wealthy and ignoring the National debt has made the cost of being able to respond or preemptively put into action mitigations that need to be promoted.
