FBI investigating racists texts sent to Black Americans

The FBI is investigating a series of racist text messages sent to Black Americans across the country. A state attorney general has suggested that foreign actors may be involved. NBC News' Zinhle Essamuah spoke with victims who described feeling "immediately disturbed, scared, and afraid" upon receiving the messages.

That was my precise question as well. Why is the questioning coming from anything other than which agency, corporation, organization had their data breached and what other information do they have to know these people by name and that they are in fact black? That would be my first major concern. If they know your race and your name, could they know your address, your current job, your bank information.. that seems to be more pertinent.

Initally, many of the ones I saw in reports contained a reference to being "searched down." That is NOT a common US English phrase. Sounds 100% foreign. Plus the overall grammar and wording sounds very much like people unfamiliar. But...like I said...initially I saw a claim that a number was traced to Indiana. Could have been someone who simply forwarded it. ALSO...it's not just black people receiving these texts. They weren't that specific with the recipients.
