Long and short, it'd end with "Get a court order, then we'll talk, now go off and kick a rock before I make my own federal call and end your careers". They'd have no real recourse, as dragging me off then creates that very problem for them with a false arrest and civil rights violations. H2S is the reason I have permanent brain damage. I worked in the oilfield as safety and maintenance, I cleaned and repaired pilot valves and inspected relays for pumpjacks, and one location was built compact because the person who owned the land at the time didn't want us to take up too much space, so things were built in a way that made it dangerous. Right next to one of the pilot valves was a vent point that released gas right into my face, and the exposure lead to cognitive and motor skill degradation and memory problems. It was a major part of a drinking water and wastewater course I took as well. That said, I don't really understand what the legal basis the FBI would have for making you take the video down. I'm not aware of any laws that say you can't show someone how it's produced, because on the contrary I had to watch videos on how it's produced so that I could learn how to avoid the situations that would lead to my death. There is such a thing as Restricted information. Restricted information is something which doesn't really present a threat if it leaks but you probably don't want it to be easily found. For example, the recipes for chemical explosives is restricted, but any government doc that contains your taxpayer info is also considered Restricted. You usually don't need a clearance or anything to handle restricted information, you can only really get in trouble if you give it people who don't have a reason to have it. So, teaching employees that work in an industry that involves hydrogen sulfide is fine, but posting a public video on KZbin about it isn't (since you can't verify why your users are watching it).

I doubt they had a legal basis and I doubt they cared. Law enforcement is like anyone else, lazy to a fault. If they think they can accomplish something through basic intimidation without having to do the work, they will. Plenty of social media posts, videos, etc have been taken down in response to an unhappy person just by a suit standing threatening before someone. Same for search and seizure; it's difficult and time consuming to get a search warrant for a specific thing at a specific place and a specific time, but if they throw a little intimidation your way and ask for compliance so they'll to easy on you, they can get your ok to search wherever and take whatever they want.

But just like let's plays it's an extremely easy way to make long content. But that's the problem, content creators treat them like they don't need to do research, edit, or stick to the topic. These kinds of podcasts feel like you are part of the video chat but are being completely ignored.

Which both definitions are unusual code for machineguns in the US so this is the state with the most lax definition and Texas says "September 1, 2019. (9) "Machine gun" means any firearm that is capable of shooting more than two shots automatically, without manual reloading, by a single function of the trigger." Like i find it really weird that Georgia has more freedom than the gun loving Texas. And the thing i hate most is them saying weapons with a burst mode is a machinegun when that is not fucking true as if you ask me they should go with a literal definition stating that "a machine gun is a firearm that is capable of firing every round in the magazine with a single function of the trigger with a exception of firearms that can only fire a single shot" I want guns with burst features to be common without having to have a binary trigger that fires on pull and release

Let's not forget that once the ATF actually start to notice that people are making guns with burst features in Georgia they are actually going to change the Machinegun definition Most of the judges here in Georgia are actually based so the ATF would have to change the definition of Machine gun in order to actually get something to stick. The video indicates that this was a case where the FBI were acting for people's safety, though I'm not 100% on that. I can understand why he'd want to comply, but he also didn't really have a legal obligation unless they showed up with a warrant to enter the house, as well as another specifically indicating they would need access to the computer or youtube account to delete the video. Meanwhile, the FBI could have simply told KZbin to take the video down, so none of that makes sense to me. Could also just be the "friendly visit and verbal warning" routine, nobody wants to be liable for someone else's actions if it was brought up in court. Later some kids in the SF Bay Area picked up the idea and used it (more than one case). Then one of the basic ingredients (which I long used for a dormant spray on fruit trees) was taken off the shelves; now sales and purchases require special licenses, just like some other dangerous agricultural chemicals. As for the hydrogen sulfide in petroleum, that is common; in a county south of here that produces a lot of oil, you can see mountains of sulphur removed from it. The chemical used to odorize gas nowadays is methyl mercaptan; when I was young (a long time ago) another very stinky gas was widely used, but about 10% of people (including me) were genetically incapable of smelling it.

100% accurate that this is a big thing in oil and gas. There are inorganic sources, but typically it’s caused by sulfate reducing bacteria. Not only is it very deadly, but it is also denser than air which allows it to accumulate in tanks and ditches, it likes to absorb into things, it can cause steel to become brittle and crack, and it can get adsorbed into clothing and then off gas. On locations with it, for example much of Hugoton field in Kansas (fun fact: also where most Helium comes from, which is a product of decay of naturally occurring radioactive minerals), people have to wear special sensors and even self contained breathing apparatus. There are stories of people taking off their protective clothing after a job and leaving it in the truck cab, then dieing from exposure to the H2S that comes off their clothes. Extreme case, but still not to be trifled with.
@lironmtnranch47653 жыл бұрын
Interesting, in the 80s a hot sulfur truck apparently pulled over to deal with a leak, and left a few pounds of solidified sulfur on the ground, which my friend discovered and I rode my bike several miles to stuff my newspaper bags with some. We made "stink bombs" of aluminum sulfate which would react with water to make hydrogen sulfide, in quantities sufficient to stink but not be dangerous. We made pipe "cups" that we filled with sulfur, then used an arc welder and aluminum rod. Crude but effective, and weeks later one of these was checked and found to still slowly produce bubbles of H2S when supplied with more water. It was amazing how far downwind we could still smell what was probably diluted to parts per billion. ETA: Gas is odorized with ethyl mercaptan, not H2S. This is a chemical cousin to butyl mercaptan AKA skunk odor.

Pro-Tip *_NEVER_* ask the ATF if something is legal. If they say no, then that is a legal precedent that would put anyone who did it in prison. If you don't ask them, you can basically do whatever you want until they find out and say no.
@PakRoc-dev3 жыл бұрын
Eeh, kind of. True "Legal" president is only created by court decisions. The ATF could be wrong (and often are) about the actual law, what they say as an interpretation of the law, and that's why they would quote only the text of the law, so no interpretation is involved.
@WorBlux3 жыл бұрын
@@PakRoc-dev Not exactly. Courts generally defer to reasonable interpretation made by Regulatory agencies, including the ATF if they are openly published. The backyard scientist though was essentially asking for legal advice, which the ATF can't actually give, as most of them aren't lawyers, and even if they are, are not your lawyer. Your best chance of getting something useful is to ask to any published guidelines or supplements related to the regulatory text in question.
@OspreyKnight3 жыл бұрын
@@WorBlux The thing is that would require the ATF to back up their determination to the court, and it can still be invalidated by any court up to the supreme court. The real problem is that the laws they're making determinations on are complete garbage. They have to interpret shit made by morons 90 years ago with no foresight or weapon knowledge and only worse as politicians continue to try to weasel around the 2nd amendment.
@PakRoc-dev3 жыл бұрын
@@WorBlux The ATF definitely has lawyers, and those lawyers write guidance. That guidance is "authoritative" literature, but not "precedent." All guidance would have extensive references to the actual text of the law and prior court decisions, but it does not have the same authority as the law it's based on. However, in practice, you are right. The ATF are basically a specialized federal police force, but they need prosecutors to bring charges. Those prosecutors are heavily aligned with the ATF making the same legal arguments as the ATF's guidance, and average people can't afford a lawyer good enough to convince a judge that the ATF's interpretation of the law is wrong.
@WorBlux3 жыл бұрын
@@PakRoc-dev "All guidance would have extensive references to the actual text of the law and prior court decisions," The interpretation must be reasonable and defensible. But this still gives a lot of leeway/advantage to the regulatory agency. You can't show that your interpretation of the statute is in line with the text and precedent, but also must prove that the regulators interpretation is not reasonable and defensible. It's a subtle but pernicious shifting of the burden of proof. They don't have to prove you violated the statue to the degree required, only that you violated their interpretation of the law to the degree required.

Please honor me with an answer, I have a question, and this might be unusual. As a welder, starting with steel, I realized that sun screen alone isnt enough to negate sun damage in a production shop with literally dozens of welders firing off at any time. I got used to wearing layered clothes, covering literally exposed piece of skin. I would wear a full balaclava over my burn proof welding cap, wear UV and safety rated sunglasses (Inside) even when I wasnt welding, but when I had to weld or plasma cut, my welding visor would always be down before the start, I would still get burns around the opening for the balaclava where my sunglasses didnt cover. I used spf70 sunscreen with aluminum in it.....supposed to be superior. It just so happens that the compression on my facial skin, along with my skin type, oil production, the nature of smoke and how it likes to coat you, and spending more than 12hrs a day like that, along with the chemicals in the sunscreen, caused breakouts....and so sulfur ointments were something I tried....and it seemed to work when welding steel. After a few years though, using sulfur still, I started welding aluminum. My skin started breaking out in horrendous ways. Is this related to those two things combined together, like you mention in your videos? I am sorry, your not a dermatologist, lets clear that up, so using your accumulated knowledge of those two elements otherwise, do you think its a possibility? And really, some people will read this long comment and say "TLDR" but I am hoping to have one person read this that can relate to what I am talking about and see if I am right. It would make sense that if the combo is indeed toxic, there is some things that I should be conscience of as a welder.

I’m so familiar with the stench of low concentration H2S from cleaning silver with baking soda and aluminum that I never understood how anyone could be exposed to a high enough concentration to kill since the smell is so unpleasant and obvious. I didn’t know it numbed the nose! By the way, the odorant in natural gas is ethyl mercaptan, another sulfur compound with an odor that’s detectable in minuscule amounts.

At 100 ppm it will instantly knock you out and paralyze your lungs and you're now on a timer to be rescued and given oxygen before you go braindead. Typically you only see concentrations like that in industry but there's oil and gas production fields that have 170,000 ppm h2s in them which makes it a massive safety problem.

Etc. we were told one lungful of H2S will kill you. We were instructed to run in a certain direction depending on the wind direction and TO NOT ATTEMPT TO SAVE ANYONE. If someone droops suddenly we were instructed to get as far away as possible because more than likely if someone drops next to you, the concentration is super high and you’ll die as well trying to save them.
