FBW A380X Update - Will It Release for MSFS 2020 or 2024?

Although it's being built for MSFS 2020, it will work in MSFS 2024, however, they would need to update it to take advantage of MSFS 2024 features. This is a freeware project, so again, there's no timeline of when this will release. The other A380 is being developed by iniBuilds, who will be making their version solely for MSFS 2024.

Yes and for 2024! Won’t be backwards compatible to 2020, but that’s fine because I’ll be jumping on the next ship! 😎 I haven’t flown the A32NX since the Fenix A320ceo came out almost 2 years ago!

@@Cogan1 They announced the A380 when they announced the A350 , the FAQ for the A350 also includes the A380 in there but there was no mention on timeline for the 380 other than it would come after the 350.

What i meant is that you mention the possibilities of the improved graphical side to the A380 in the new sim but you didnt mention the physics. Otherwise a nice summary of the showing of A380! :)

They said their aim is to release it so it's flyable from A to B on VATSIM. At the time of launch not all systems will be implemented or complete modelling of cabin for instance. They said that they will continue to develop it years after launch.

FBW's current legal structure does not allow them to be in the Marketplace, thus, just like the A32NX, the A380X won't be available on Xbox. Their orginal type of open-source allowed them to, but then they changed that a few years ago.

You can't really say much when it's freeware and only appreciate all the hard work, but when MSFS2024 was announced, FBW should have considered the fact that they wouldn't make it to finish it before the launch of MSFS2024. The expo was months and months ago and they made te promise that it would be released soon. Now we are approaching the end of the year, with a new MSFS just around the corner. They should literally put the project on hold or at least work on making it MSFS2024 compatible as fast as they can. In November, loads of MSFS fanactics will all make the switch to MSFS2024 and not have 2020 installed anymore, which makes it a little bit of a let down (even for FBW) if they wouldn't release it for 2024 at the same time. I can't wait to fly it, but it seems that for me it will be in MSFS2024 and not anytime soon unfortunately.

Although built for MSFS 2020, it would still work in 2024. The other way around, it wouldn’t work in MSFS 2020.

They did another SDK Developer Stream and basically have said today that an airplane and system needs a full rebuild to support all MSFS2024 functions. So that's going to take developers like FBW and PDMG a lot of time and effort.

@@vekkuTV only if you want the plane to make use of the new 2024 features, otherwise it will still fly fine, planes that run outside the sim like A2A and fenix aren't even faced since they don't use the sim FM, if they open the project once it's out, don't be surprised if a branch is made by modders to get it working on 2024 features before FBW updates it first.

I am excited for the upcoming release! I have had quite the journey with the 2020 edition. The 2024 edition of Microsoft Flight Simulator is indeed shaping up to be an incredible experience, with new features like aviation careers, enhanced physics, and more. I will not be looking back to 2020 once 2024 comes out, even if they make all the 3rd party planes free. It’s interesting to note that many companies, including FBW, sometimes opt for a free or freemium model to attract a larger user base quickly. This can help build a strong community and generate revenue through other means, such as donations, sponsorships, or premium add-on; however, adding a price tag is quite reasonable, and it’s clear we value the hard work that goes into developing such detailed simulations. Super excited, but I am going to wait for the 2024 model and will donate as usual because there is no way I am taking this free.

Yeah, same here! “This is Ripley, lone survivor of MSFS 2020…all others are dead on old ship. See you soon, MSFS 2024!” (If MSFS was the Alien franchise 🤣🍿) Synaptic A220 was a freeware project that then joined iniBuilds to become a payware. They end up with more resources to help with development. Freeware is great and some of the stuff in MSFS is better than some payware. I understand it may be a passion project, but I don’t understand spending 3+ years on something that only pays off in pride. Donations only go to cover server and other costs, not dev time. I know there’s reasons, but I don’t understand them. I’m an entrepreneur and work at a premium level while many accountants in my field slap a CPA badge on the back of their name without really knowing how to run a business as their charging very little for their work and expertise. They’re almost like freeware! 😎

MSFS 2024 will be released in 6 weeks. Only a few people will stay with 2020 after that. FBW missed the bus, per say, on where and when they will release this aircraft. They should have put it out 6 months ago and updated along the way like they did the A320. Oh well, that ship has sailed already.

@@pm110978 At least! They won't have SDK until Nov 19th as they're not a Marketplace developer. I really thought this was a lot closer to release - at least something like the A32NX, where they updated it a lot after release - because their videos last year looked great and there was the last video 3-4 months ago. It is freeware, so it will take longer than payware because these devs have full-time jobs in most cases.

@@SizzlingPopcorn it doesnt make sense that it would come to msfs2024 first, as developers only have access to msfs2024 since some days ago. the whole development process was in msfs2020 so how can they know everything will work in msfs2024 AND msfs2020? it would be a risky, dumb action by flybywire. They are not going to do that and risk their good reputation. Its coming before msfs2024, I will come back here when it drops :)
