I would love to see Lockheed Martin get back into the commercial passenger market again. The Lockheed L1011 Tristar was not only ahead of it's time but was the most comfy ride out of all of them with extra wide seats and leg room compared to today.

Dear Boeing, My gut instinct says that, for a great future, you should cease production of your 737 Max, and concentrate all efforts on bringing your beautiful and advanced lightweight 797 into service as soon as possible. At the same time, you need to re-establish the rigorous quality control standards that make your aircraft safe and dependable. Paul Walker Farnborough UK

Like General motors in past decades Boeing has been run by "bean counters" far more interested in stock prices than in excellence in build quality. This has proven even more damaging for Boeing in terms of fatalities and dangerous non-fatal incidents due to Boeing's lack of both build quality and design compromise, specifically in the 737 MAX. General Motors wisely has put "car guys" (engineers) back in control of the company and BOEING NEEDS TO PUR AIRCRAFT ENGINEERS BACK IN CONTROL OF THE COMPANY. The 798 must wait until Boeing puts its other quality problems entirely in the rearview mirror.

The 797 must be a next generation airplane not only a small 787! Airbus is here also in advance!

How many whistleblowers will die for the 797?

How many of these will fall apart or crash. Boeing has a VERY long way to go to earn my trust in them again.

They have lost time on fighting with others, they have lost time on modernising 50 years old model, they have lost time on making unjustified savings on safety, and so on, so far… Clean sheet design is very expensive project, and seeing current situation at Boeing, perhaps that could lead to more issues, but this time with finances. I hope this will not happen, yet there are plenty of risks.

Ultimately it's a big change at Boeing, it will be a good decision in fact

The 797 will be boeing final nail in the coffin. I predict that their will be a new airline manufacturer by 2030 that will retire boeing.

It's all very well attempting to launch a new airliner, but it's not really much good if the airlines you want to purchase the new aircraft don't really trust your companys name anymore and you are currently the subject of an FBI investigation into whether you as a company are criminally negligent.

What they should consider is doing is developing a narrow body version of the 787 in the same way as they did with the 757 and 767.
