Wow.. Anurag Kashyap is a true fighter. Very inspiring, if someone else was in his place in the earlier stage they wouldve comited suicide.

He is a very smart film maker. Genius of sorts. And a true game changer of hindi cinema in recent times. And yet he has no airs about himself. His passion for cinema is so evident in every interview.

One of the most inspirational stories I have heard in bollywood. If he can create such a masterpiece without the money then he can surely do wonders with a good budget. Can't wait for Bombay velvet!

+director mak It was not shit, it was not just not up to the level GOW, Ugly. It was much better than films like Once upon a time in Bombay Franchise and Shootout at Wadala film.

What makes a good movie is the sincerity of its story telling. Amazingly some of the best movies were made in the middle of some financial crunches. That struggle makes them more focussed on their story. Bombay Velvet was a mishap. He gave in to making film with bigwigs which diluted his inane umhindered film making process. So it was a result of too many cooks perhaps. It's heavily borrowed from some gangster themed Hollywood flicks. It would have worked better as a mini series today.. rather than a film. The characters needed more etching out. Also the lead pair story didn't have that zing to it. So things can/will go wrong if it's not meant to be. Murphy's law. even with the choicest ingredients u can end up making some expensive $hit.

Thanks FC. One of your best segments. Getting to know the film making process from the masters themselves that too on their masterpieces and even more interesting was the fact that some of their best work came in the midst of a hundred storms at sea.

Hi everybody. I keep watching and rewatching black friday and there's one thing that intrigues me- how did Anurag sir shoot the blast sequences in this movie. the blasts in the movie look real - definitely not computer generated- so does anyone know how he shot those blast sequences. searched everywhere on the internet - couldnt find any thread discussing this.

Yeah ! i also can't understand how he did it. He does know how to fake things like rain sequence in GOW 1. But this can not be faked by close ups, background music and VFX. ! So you are an indian na.. Bro someday catch him at some panel discussion and ask it :D ... Don't forget to tell me ..

Hi! I'm not sure about it but this is just according to me AK has talked about tight budget on many instance... (tight budget doesn't mean zero rupees) Actually it was more than 1 Crore There is only 2 explosions in the film... (1 the stock exchange 2 the bus) And that's VFX but what is real is the aftermath i.e the people running, the burnt food stall. That is easy to create. SO overall it is a smart combination between the both.

How the fuck is it that 'no money', 'no budget', 'couldn't afford' etc keep cropping up so frequently in Anurag Kashyap's reminiscing and yet he's made some of the most impactful movies in modern times for India. Really, this guy is on a whole different level altogether. And btw, Black Friday is my favourite out of his work. Keep rocking, sir.

He is a madness lover, but a very powerful story teller. Now that he finally has the platform he seeked for so so long, more than anyone else in this country, I hope he finds a good enough story, or is supplied, as in the case of marquee gangs of wasseypur, and gets the world of appreciation he deserves

black Friday gulaal, dev d and even no smoking- this guy was a cinematic genius, but then one day a bad spell was cast upon him and he came in company of karan johar and since then there was always some or the other thing which has been missing in his films, none of his films post dev D except GOW have made an impact.

If filmmakers like Mr. Anurag Kashyap is not allowed to ply his trade it is a disgrace for humanity. He must be given unlimited money and then asked to make films. If there are 20 movies by history will remember hindi cinema 5 of them are made by him. Only the greatest minds can come up with films like Raman Raghav 2.0, No smoking, Black Friday, Dev D and Gangs of Wasseypur.

Martin Scorsese, Danny Boyle, Quentin Tarantino all have seen his films and have been inspired by them. Slumdog Millionaire happened because Danny Boyle saw Black Friday and was inspired to make a film like that. So, yes he has international audience, they also watch his interviews and respect him more there than in our country !!
