Honestly, this might have the most success out of all the islands because they have their own league with 26 clubs in 2 divisions. They could make a system where if you aren't in the first team, instead of playing reserves you go and play for your local side that weekend. We do this in Australia in the AFL. This encourages the local sides to keep developing as a feeder to the main Isle of Man squad.

The one thing I know about non league is the fans love an away day so I really don't think attendances will be a problem
@charlieb59815 жыл бұрын
I’m from the Isle of Wight and think we should 100% do this. We already have a good number of very decent players who would shine at these non league levels, before gaining interest from elsewhere. And we don’t have the problem of as high travel costs.

An interesting attractor to potential semi-professional if not full-professional players is the individual income tax system in the IoM.

As someone who regularly attends North West counties games I welcome this idea. Might even look into going on a trip there to watch a game. As for standard I remember when In about the 03/04 my local side Leigh RMI did a pre-seaon tour there and we won every game I think, which was unusual for us, although we was a Conference team at the time.

Lot of casual workers on the Isle of Man will do a lot better than you think big is travel mid week northwest counties contains teams from the north east as well Whitby to Douglas is very difficult logistic wise as Jersey and Guernsey games are more reachable also more affluent south South East thanks

@burnleyfan119654 жыл бұрын
Well you can sail to the IOW in 15 mins from Portsmouth-Ryde and only about 20 mins from Lymington-Yarmouth, so really its not a much bigger journey than you would have to make to the south coast. If you go on the IOM ferry, especially in winter, be prepared to feel sick. Also there are times in the winter they will be cancelled.It really can get that rough. Ive been to the Shetland Islands 3 times on ferries and theyve been much calmer than the one i did to the IOM,which the Manx people said was fairly tame.

As the likes of the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands are self governing and the Isle of Man even has its own parliament there now is a call for UEFA to grant them associate membership where they can only play in the nation leagues where they will be playing the lowest ranked European teams and international friendlies which to me is a cracking idea as let’s be honest we all ready have enough whipping boys in the qualification groups for world and European cups as they will never qualify but giving them associate membership will boost local economies by hosting international matches, it will encourage young boys and girls knowing they will acutely have a chance of playing international football one day, it will increase morale of the lower ranked teams in Europe now by winning games against teams of more close ability and it will just be a radical move by UEFA and show that they want to open its doors to teams of less ability and show case these smaller nations. Jersey and the Isle of Man have already applied for full membership but were declined. I would like to see what others think about this subject
