Thank you for posting this! I recommend adding in a part to inspect and clean the rear drains. Removing the glass is the only way to do it. Doing this will help avoid a totaled car from water intrusion!

Thank you for posting this informative video. I have an XC60 with a pano screen, the seal of which was attacked by some stone martins who pulled out part of it and chewed it up. My Volvo service garage told me it was a specialist job so I decided to buy the seal (about £80) in the hope of doing it myself. That was 6 months ago and since then I became increasingly concerned about the job as I could not find any information on how to do it, despite a widespread trawl on forums and elsewhere, I kept putting it off. Then voila, I found your video just today, posted a month ago. You are a star! Thanks.

Just came across this video - thanks for posting it. I’ve got a 2020 V90 CC and started noticing the seal gap a couple of years ago. I get wind noise especially when it’s windy outside (go figure!). After watching the video I ordered a replacement seal. Thanks!

Really good content. This is a common problem with Volvos, particularly a factory fault on the XC90. Recently, I had the seal replaced during service, but it didn't solve the issue. Volvo has published bulletins TJ 35503.3.0 and TJ 31272 about this defect, and many customers have sued Volvo and won their cases. Currently, I've taped the sunroof and am using the vehicle like that. Volvos are troublesome now; I'm also dealing with an oil burning problem. Stay away to save money and hassle.

@alicaptainny i have a 2016 as well. I have the same issues as you, but also one of the studs that mounts the exhaust to the head broke off and created enough heat from the exhaust leak that it burnt the casing on the supercharger. So, I'm going to pull the engine and replace it with a lower mileage 2022 engine. Such a hassle, but at least with the newer engine I shouldn't have too many worries mechanically

This is a great DIY, the typical issue is that the runroof drains get clogged with debris, which allows the water the pool in those tubes all the way up until it then dumps down into the electronics near the top of the windshield area and other areas. The gap in the seal allows more water in and only exacerbates the issue, but itself is not the cause of the water intrusion issue. Best part about this DIY is that the entire rear glass panel is off so you while it is off you can really check those rear drains good, test with pouring water and watching it flow out near the wheel wells, etc and that alone might be worth doing this job to replace the seal. I've put some permatex black RTV in that gap for now and I may regret that in the future if I decide to do this DIY.. but that should clean off pretty easily and it's only in that small gap.

This is the most clear video about the sunroof for xc90. Just wondering if you can show how to clean the rear drain tube as well?

Yes I'd love to see a vid on how to clear rear drain tubes too

Great video - My 2021 V60 has this issue too (the gap is about the width of my adult thumb), and have had water intrusion twice. Seems like a terrible design flaw, to be honest. But this looks the same as my V60...

Hey, many thanks for this great video. After replacing the glass, the Auto closing curtain function (close the curtain automatically after locking the car, if the curtain open of course..) Does not function, it is still mark with "v" on the settings. Any ideas? Nedd to reset something? Need to make any action? Many thanks!

I just did this and was wondering if the front glass should stick up a bit. Or do I have another issue or maybe adjust the rear sunroof more. It all seems flushed to the body though

Hi, would removing only this glass be the same way to replace the sunshade? I have a sunshade that is broken on one side and is falling off and wanted to get one used one and replace. Any input helps and thanks for posting!

Next day, noticing after reinstall that the roof seals are noisy. I keep seeing that I shouldn't overtighten the 6 torx, so I haven't. Will give it time to see if they quiet down.

I need to replace a broken front glass on the Panoramic Sunroof glass on a 2017 Volvo XC60 are the glass panels replaceable by those T25 screws? I wonder

Nice video. How about replacing the moonroof sunshade cloth? Does anyone have a video like to that one? My sun shade was jammed and I pulled too hard from the retracted position and I broke a plastic clip on one side. Now the moonroof sun shade is slanted and I need to replace the clips or the entire shade. Please help. Thanks

Took it in for service and they said I need it replaced. Charging me 560.00 the part is 85.50 with 10% discount. Doing it myself. Also I followed your rear brake job video and all good. It hasn't been a year and I driven maybe 10k miles and said I need them replaced. Ain't paying 850 for just the rears. But the pads were changed and they said I had 3mm i haven't checked myself. Any reason why if true why it would go down to 3mmthat quick with only 10k miles
@natarem5 ай бұрын
rear pads are being used by the adaptive cruise and pilot assist, so that would cause them to drop a lot if you're using that a lot. and they are much smaller than the front so they get used up faster if they're being used for the aforementioned reason. my rear pads are about 40k miles in and i still have 4mm on them.
@escalona87645 ай бұрын
@@natarem so using adaptive cruise it uses the rear pads more than the fronts?
@natarem5 ай бұрын
@@escalona8764 yes exactly. braking with just those is tough on those pads and makes them go down fast. i don't think adaptive cruise and pilot assist uses the front pads at all.
@escalona87645 ай бұрын

Turn off lane keep assist. It uses the rear EPB brakes to keep the car between the lanes.
