►Replacing your Mercedes C300 spark plugs and ignition coils is a great way to care for your car while saving money. The spark plug and ignition coil ignite the unburnt fuel and air mixture inside the combustion chamber to produce the engine's power. When the plugs or coils fail, you can lose power, fuel economy, have a rough running engine, and have a hard time starting the vehicle. Typical plug life is around 50,000-miles. Ignition coils can last as long as 100,00-miles but will likely need replacement closer to the 75,000-mile range.

NGK doesn’t actually recommend indexing the plugs and it’s a nominal difference in power at 1% so 245hp will yield 2.45hp gain total. I just did my E300 plugs at 59k and the electrodes showed signs of wear so maybe 100+k on stock plugs is a bad idea. I also didn’t need to unplug my coils to remove them. I just pulled the clips loose for any cables or wires stopping me from wiggling them out. I used anti-seize on the new ones and some dielectric grease in the boot. It was a quick process and I can’t stress enough how important it is to use compressed air around the plugs before you remove them. It’s hard to believe how much dirt and debris gets down around the plugs. I also took care of the P0D6A DTC by dropping the rack, subframe and oil pan and replacing the harness behind the harmonic balancer and the diverter valve. I used Victor Reinz Reinzosil sealer on the pan as per a recommendation from another shop. If you do this job remember there is a bolt for the oil pan inside the bottom access cover just above the oil level indicator sensor. I should also mention that I get all my service parts from FCP Euro including the harness, the diverter valve and my oil change parts. I will be ordering the trans service kit soon. Thanks FCP Euro!

The PCM sends voltage to the Coil Packs. If in doubt, read the Schematic.

My 2018 c43 has 37032 miles. I was thinking about replacing the plugs and coil packs. The AMG runs fine. But the service guy at Mercedes said at 40,000 everything needs changing in the ignition. What I don't know is what is 'everything'? and how much will 'everything' cost with labor to change. Can anyone shed some light on this for me? I recently changed the front struts and rear shocks at a cost of $3800 at Mercedes because the front end made noise over man-made street bumps designed to slow traffic. So nothing is cheap there -- and it took 11 days for Mercedes to finish the repairs because the guy fixing my car was tied up with an engine overhaul, and then the alignment machine was broken. During that time, I rode my bike to college at St. John's University and everywhere else. It was a bit difficult navigating in heavy traffic but after a few days, I found the best ways to go. The repairs were at Helm's bro's Mercedes in Flushing, NY.

I changed my spark plugs and coil packs in my 2017 Mercedes Benz c300 but after I felt my car misfiring. I checked it with the scanner and it shows that my cylinder 4 is misfiring. Any suggestions on how I can fix this problem? My car never had the misfiring issue until I installed the new parts

Try switching the #4 coil pack with another to see if it still misfires, then you know it is the coil pack. You may want to try the same with the plug and start with disconnecting and checking the wire harness connection to coil pack. Good Luck!!!

Your car will shake, and your check engine light will come on. They might need to be replaced prior to showing signs, though.
