Like I said, the age old debate. :-)

Enjoyed the video mate. FCS 2 only needs one screw in the back part of the plug and you won’t lose any fins (except of course if the rip the entire plug out but that would be the same with Futures)😜

Thanks. The one screw to keep FCS2 fins in matches the one screw needed with Futures, and negates the whole snap in snap out premise. And then when you talk to ding regairers, you find that they fix more than twice the number of FCS2 fin boxes in comparison to Futures fin boxes. This from one local ding repairer: Fin plug repair tally March to May 22. FCS2 - 23 FCS1 - 7 FCS Fusion - 1 Futures - 7

So I changed from FCS to Futures about 5 years ago and I haven't looked back. The biggest driver for me to change is simply the fact that is you have the FCS 2 boxes you cannot get fins made by 3rd party manufacturers that just fit the boxes. You did briefly mention the patent issues with FCS 1, and to fix them FCS now no longer allow other manufacturers to make fins since they have now patented the design. So you either have to fork out a fortune on FCS made fins, or you have to buy an insert to make the boxes compatible with the older FCS 2 tab style fins. I live in South Africa and our currency is a joke so those FCS made fins really hit the pocket hard. We have excellent fin manufacturers in the country that make really good fins for a fraction of the price, and if you use Futures boxes you just buy the fins and you're done. I also lost way more fins and even had the plugs come out with FCS, I have never had any issues since I moved to Futures.

Good to hear. Yes, Futures opened up to 3rd party and that does reduce cost, as you say. FCS haven't with the FCS2's. I've damaged a number of my Futures fins on rocks but never had fin box damage.

Futures boxes better strength especially when using large area twin fins

Good point. Thanks.

I think the reason people lose FCS is they haven't made sure the fin is actually clipped in properly if you haven't made sure the fin box is clean with no sand the fins are not always in properly .I've had to sand a new futures fin to get it into the fin box . I'd use either but it's just the fact I have a lot of FCS fins and I only had 2 sets of futures so for me it's an economic choice . The big plus with futures also is there's a whole host of other fin manufacturers that use that system.

Good points. I haven't had to sand Futures fins, but one friend has. Yes, the third party thing is a plus with Futures. It'll be interesting to see if FCS holds out. They do dominate the Aussie board manufacturers, though, so maybe they think they don't need to.

@@tui_ruwhiu_wavecomms I did see someone trying to sell 3d printed fcs2 fins and I thought that's going to be a risky move . I only seen it once so maybe it was shut down quick .

Is it just me or is the camera focus on your backdrop? Coming in a bit blurry!
@tui_ruwhiu_wavecomms2 ай бұрын
No, you are correct, unfortunately. I got to the end of filming and found out it was slightly out of focus. Didn't have time to reshoot everything, so sharpened it as much as I could without making it look ridiculous. The perils of doing everything by yourself. Triple check next time.
