Backstory: The guy who wrote this song was in a wheel chair due to polio. He wrote it on his wedding day as he watched his bride, a professional dancer, dance with their guests. Fred Hoyt: Precisely, it's a dreadful mis-match of tempo. For a really clever match of an old dance clip with a more modern recording, here's a great clip of Dorothy Lamour and Fred Astaire " dancing to" Jackie Wilson's "Higher and Higher" which was recorded many years AFTER the film was made. It's so cleverly edited by marrying the music to their steps, and by choosing a recording with the exact (jive)tempo that it looks as if they are actually dancing to it with not one mis-timed step. It's as clever as it is enjoyable, and a bit surprisingly, the more modern upbeat music shows just how good Astaire was, Miss Lamour ain't hard to look at either!

I'm 63 years old and can remember being able to dance like that......I was even filmed doing it for a french movie. Oh God....shoot me now!

geoff rouse Oh, please don`t say that!!! At least you`ve got your memories. There are so many of us, who weren`t as lucky as you (being filmed at the peak of our greatness - LOL) It`s hard getting older and even watching others slowly changing. BUT there`s something very democratic about aging because it`s the only thing that happens to every one of us. No matter if you`re rich or poor, beautiful or not, successful or not, important or not, healthy or sick. (I always loved to dance,I was very athletic when I was young and I am an artist. But then I fell sick and now I have difficulties walking and so I have to use my wheelchair. I even can`t paint and draw anymore). and Why should we lose energy on something that we know is inevitable? All people who were good at being young and successful should try to be successful at getting older and therefore trying to be a role model for all those who follow. I wish you all the best :)))

most of the songs i know are from 50's to 80's 'cause my father and uncles are all eloctronic technicians, jute boxes are provided by my father to some restaurants during those days ...i was born in the year 1957..music during those times are really pleasant to the ear to hear and very enticing.😍😊!!
