Nice test. We run our race car with k20z3 oil pump with balance shafts, works perfect, We sometimes rev it 8600 and no problem. The vibration without balance shaft is not worth it in if you want the engine to last long in racing. We have been testing that muliply times. Everything is cracking in the long time in racing application.

Yes, those pumps are safe for 8600rpm. It is money grabbers like 4 pistons who are pushing this oil pump bulshit.

Is shaft failure the cause why most use the K20A oil pump instead?
@CL9k24a3 Жыл бұрын
No, shafts never fail on stock pumps. People install them because of superior oil flow past 7800rpm, less parasitic drag= more hp, you are removing 2.5kg from the cranck so you get more responsive throttle. But one thing people overlook is increase of vibration so fluid damper is highly recomanded. Moto IQ has excellent video about that topic.

It really worth it? Apart of the 5hp extra, almost all k24 cammed dynos I have seen, the curve get flat at 7900 or so...
@CL9k24a3 Жыл бұрын
For me it is not worth it , would never put k20 pump on my car but for people who do built engines with higher rpm sure is, from oiling standpoint and extra hp.

@@CL9k24a3 yeah, with forged engine and hi comp piston is worth it... But there is a lot of forks with stock bottom end using it just to put some cams and power curve it gets flat at 7900 anyways

There is alot of people who will sell you on lie that oil pump ads over 10hp so some people buy into that bs.

@@CL9k24a3i think people byu this oil pump for easy rev engine and for rev past 8600. Few extra hp is a bonus. With ligweight flywheel is it good think. Pure N/A power on k20❤

makes sense on k20 on k24 not so much if you are not into lap times as it will increase vibration a lot.
