I retired (captain) from a much smaller fire department with 30 years experience and I find it amazing how FDNY's command staff so effectively coordinates, controls, manages, and accounts for the incredible numbers of apparatus and personnel on 2, 3, 4+ alarm incidents! I know they get a lot of opportunities and practice on greater alarm fires but I still find it amazing just listening to their comms! I am still active in the fire service supporting my city's 6 station department which protects over 120,000 population, even at 66 I would give almost anything to ride out with a chief officer and observe him/her managing a multi-alarm incident! formal FDNY command rocks!

@@AllenPortman I was very fortunate to have ridden with the FDNY back in the 90’s. I’m a retired Lt. from a busy Fire Based Department. Had a few close friends on FDNY, and rode with a few companies in Brooklyn. It’s amazing, even today how many Firefighters show up within 3 minutes! How they operate their Command System is absolutely incredible, but much better to be seen in person.

Thanks for the run down of the units. I cannot remember who but someone used to do that on each run they covered. I have missed seeing it. Again; my MANY thanks.

Hear those guys shouting alarm when a window was put through and glass falls from the upper floor. Don't they expect any ventilation and why are they all standing so close to the building and doing nothing anyway. BA men and non-BA men working together. This sucks.

Too many RIT guys Standing around doing nothing. All of them standing around defending 1 door. No need for all these resources just to havaaae them standing around. Also, how does the BC not know who's where on the upper floors. Did he not assign people to individual floors?

That's why NYC doesn't have high rise fires like other cities in the world. And a firefighter's air bottle only last 20 minutes under stressful working conditions, so the men are cycled in and out of the building.

@RetLtFF43 we understand what happened. Why are they still milling about doing nothing? We understand the bottles running out but from the looks of it. Most of them inside dont even have there mask on
