Those questioning the ones "standing around" must not understand firefighting. Not everyone works at the same time. They go in shifts so the ones that were fighting fire can rehab while fresh firefighters take their place. If everyone was working at the same time then everyone would have to rehab at the same time.

@@illiilliilliill I did too. Lots of well dressed observers. Has nothing to do with shifts or jobs, they didn't rotate the guys in the buckets. Just lots of guys standing around. Plenty enough to grab a section of hose and tap into that Tower Ladder for a bit of water to deal with the cars and pallets on fire. The Jeep on fire was responsible for the bulk of the black smoke. Knock that out so your guys aren't sucking in all those carcinogens.

Exactly. So lets have oil tankers right adjacent. So glad no explosion. For the firefighters life's are saved. Because that close with that intense power firemen would not stand a chance. Whoever wrote license and approved pallets and oil needs there head examined. Stupidity unfortunately kills everyday. God bless the firefighters.(always). 9.11 never forget the lives from that disaster. God Bless from Atlanta Georgia.

Bunch of people who have never done a thing of consequence in their lives, but become experts after watching some videos. Quite pathetic actually.

Two things stand out for me. 1: what was that sub burning? A Ford expedition? What a stubborn bitch. That thing would just not be extinguished. 2: The amount of random pedestrians milling about right in with the firefighters. It's just so odd to me. Where I live, the police have it pretty locked down when there's a fire. But this is NYC and there's always a lot of people walking around. I've seen it in other videos of NYC and it always strikes me as such an odd behaviour. Again, it's normal for NYC.

Nopez, this is why firefighters sometimes have more hoses on the surroundings than on the fire. Most likely the reason why the cars and the utility poles went up is heat exposure. Especially with this kind of fire the heat is insane and as dangerous as the fire itself. The Evo that went up is for some other reason. Looks like somebody got lucky and unlucky at the same time.

It should be avoided but one or two times isnt to bad if they are similar to the hoses we use in Germany.

Is this the same pallet yard that lit up in Nov. 2019? That was a 3-alarm fire. I covered that job. This is a real cooker. Awesome video.

this should not be this damn hard... holy hell... NYFD is fucked. Pair up your teams already, get them ariels going with some damn water! Why do yall make this shit so damn hard! BC knows who's on what company and who's responded... assign units to supply trucks and assign units to attack lines... it's not that damn hard... 29 been sitting there the entire time and not once was put in motion. good damn!

do they worry about contamination from fuel? I know they got a lot going on and stuff but it makes me curious and I find it interesting they are not worried about the utility poles that much.

I've only witnessed 3 intense fires in my life. A tire fire that burned for almost 4 days just down the from where I grew up. A pallet yard not too far from I worked at the time (pallet fires are insanely intense. And a cardboard manufacturing company. With that last one, me and my cousin were drinking beer on his patio about 3 miles down wind from that fire, and we had still hot embers floating down on us.
