FDVM x AYESHA OMAR at Solis music and Arts festival 2019 in Karachi.

My dear friends, french duo FDVM were coming to Karachi to play at Solis and of course all of us were super excited to be seeing them again. Victorian called me up one day (3 weeks before the festival) and said “what do you feel about collaborating on a song with us?” I immediately loved the idea and said 'Yes yes yes'. He sent me a track that they had made and asked me to come up with a melody and lyrics for it. I was travelling and working throughout and then fell very sick five days before the event itself. I almost cancelled doing this but Vic was like “Baby this is what we live for”. That was enough. I got in touch with Zahid Qureshi from 'Tamasha' and together we composed and wrote the English part of the track in two days. The urdu part which is the second half of the song is actually an old track of mine from my album "Khamoshi" which was released in 2012. That track was also composed and written by me. This is what we created together.
Im so grateful to have shared these special moments with people that I love and enjoy working with. They’re family now. I’m sharing the process of how this track was made with all of you. This is the only audio and video of the complete song. Hope you guys like the magic that we tried to create. We haven’t recorded the track properly in a studio just yet so haven’t released it up till now. But soon, soon, Inshallah.
Special, special thanks to my friend Saad Hayat for letting us rehearse in his super cool studio and work on the melody and the song (till 3 am) one night before the event. He will be seeing much more of me in the coming weeks.

It is a problem today in both your’s and mine, but again, it can change or differ anywhere and anytime. Another interesting thing about dressing very modestly is that it’s not guaranteed to stop harassment. Look at Egypt, it has many issues with sex offenders and the vast majority of reported rapes come from modestly and traditionally dressed women. Meanwhile far less sex crimes occur on women who show their hair, wear makeup, and Western clothing. So again it really depends on the culture on what people consider respectful dressing.
