Nice job! You'll love that Edelbrock EFI system, my dad put the same system on his 1968 Mustang and it runs like a champ, always starts up just fine and is pretty easy to tune using the app, certainly a huge improvement over his old carburetor! I was seriously considering using it on my 63' Tbird but I am too much of a purist I guess lol. Also I am glad to see I am not the only one who managed to install the oil pump without the drive shaft the first time around, those things are easy to forget!

That's good to know that the EFI system works good. Yes that oil pump rod is very easy to forget. Good thing is that when you go to prime the engine you'll figure it out pretty quickly. Lol.. I'll go take a look at your channel today. Always good to find another channel.

The surge tank is on there because the thermostat sits higher than the radiator if you eliminate it you must install a radiator cap higher than the thermostat or it will overheat

I figured there would be something that needs to be changed to make it work. Thanks for the info

Heat caused that. The valve "tuliped". The valve wasnt able to dissapate heat properly. Either by excessive valve guide clearance, seat contact patch too thin, or poor oiling from the rocker arm system. Another quick thingy.....rusty connecting rods or crankshaft counter weights will shed some of that rust. You're oil filter might catch it, but not before the pump gears make friends with the rust first. The timing set and cam lobes are spash oiled. Imagine what the Iron Ferrite does to those surfaces.

Thanks for the help figuring out those valves. You're right about the rust. The rust was just more of a coloring then it was any kind of heavy rust so I wasn't so woabout it. I will take even more precautions on the next build. Thanks for the comment

Good job, did you use stock valve springs ?
@Exit45Restorations9 күн бұрын
I used aftermarket springs from Howards cams

@Exit45Restorations did it come as a kit with cam ?
@tuckerjl10 күн бұрын
A little late now but you need to put a lot more assembly lube on all the cam lobes!
@Exit45Restorations10 күн бұрын
I did do some extra lube off camera. Thanks for the heads up

WHY? It's roller. The lobes and roller wheel can actually be dry. No wearable friction happening there.
