Wow so much work done! You're very knowledgeable, awesome to see the entire process. I wish you had included the Z530 installation as well, as I'm getting a Pi5 with Recalbox Jamma connector. I'll grab a logitech Z330 as well as the satellites from the sound system fits perfectly (3") and are shielded.

Great!! especially the Donkey Kong part, loved it! Was 15 years old back in 1981 and played this lots and lots back in the day. Really love MAME as it brings so much fine memories. Great video, as always, keep up the great work! Thank you.

Awesome, and thanks for documenting all of this! After getting a blast and using your blast resto video a lot, I just got an Astro and am using this awesome resource you put out! If you still have that cracked CP frame, would you consider selling it to me, I'm in MEL, mine is missing completely?
@SpaciesArcade5 жыл бұрын
Terrific!, I'm glad it helped and please see my other answer to your comment about the CP frame! Cheers! :)

Sometimes convergence problems on those monitors due to a faulty geometry circuitry can be fixed by just doing a complete cap swap.

Thanks for sharing. You can add those magnetic strips too to help with alignment.

Could be wrong, but I think what you got off Japan is a blast city control panel. These pull off completely, unlike the astro city where only the top comes off (the bottom is part of the machine). Top part is the same, so works for what you need.
@SpaciesArcade8 жыл бұрын
Hey Noodalls, I can see why you would think that! I thought that too at first. I mean who would cut an Astro city panel off! But indeed it is actually an Astro Panel. It has definite cut marks and it doesn't 'angle in' at the back like the blasts do and it's missing the back plastic piece that would connect to a Blast. It was very strange to see a panel hacked off but maybe the rest of the original cabinet was damaged badly of something - who knows! Thanks for watching :)
@noodalls8 жыл бұрын
Yep, I watched a bit more of your videos and then realised you would know the difference. Maybe they can't sell the whole cabinet, but there is a market for the control panel sold as an emulation box. Guessing by the accent, where in Australia are you based? Just stumbled on this video while looking to clean my astro city 2, I'm on the Gold Coast.
@SpaciesArcade8 жыл бұрын
Agreed. Definitely a market for the control panel to be used as an emulation box or even as a very compact 'against the wall' setup with a flat screen....I'm based in Perth but have a long lost kiwi accent that I can't shake off...You are lucky in the Gold Coast so many great arcade cabinets come up for sale there...If I was there I would be broke in no time flat! :)

Thanks...and yes they still make me nervous too!! But I think that's a good thing. Best not to get too comfortable around them, that's when mistakes happen.. ;)

Thanks for your insight, so it's not just me!...What a strange design fault. The gaffa-tape solution has held up and is easy to apply so at least it can be resolved quickly and easily. Cheers.

AWESOME series of videos man, wish more people would put this much effort and detail in. Where did you get the new control panel? Just a lucky auction site find?
@arcade_signal7 жыл бұрын
also you may have figured this out by now but when you play dodonpachi use button C for rapid fire, no need to tap, just keep it held down the whole time. while holding button C hold down button A to use your laser to take out bigger enemies (you may have to enable the button C autofire in the game's service menu).

Hey Route20, thanks for the kind feedback :) That new control panel I bought off a web store online. It was a while ago and TBH I’m not sure what they were called. Stumbled across it on a search at the time. I’m at work ATM so can’t check old emails to see where it was. As for dodonpachi I am a self confessed Noob. I definitely need to give that game and many more SHUMPS more time. So thanks heaps for the tips. I will check them out next time I play. Cheers!

I have a NAC and Blast too and they are both great. What jamma pi hardware and software are you using and how did you get it vertical? Anyway great job man! Keep up the good work :D
@SpaciesArcade8 жыл бұрын
Thanks Mario! You can get the jamma pi hardware from a guy named Dylan (dee2eR) on the aussiearcade forum. Just look under the sponsor section (look for rasperryJAMMA). All the details are there to set up the software (and it comes with a brief soft copy manual when you buy one anyway). If you let Dylan know that it is for a vertical cab he will usually set up the software for you for vertical before he sends it. It's just a mix of a pi frontend and mame emu's. But anyway best to head over to aussiearcade and check out his sponsorship thread for the rasperryJAMMA. Hope this helps! Cheers!

Great job mate. What vertical software are you running on the raspberry jamma?
@SpaciesArcade7 жыл бұрын
Hey Bryan, cheers mate. I'm using the ArpiCADE v3.6 software available from AussieArcade forum located here: www.aussiearcade.com/showthread.php/82475-RaspberryJAMMA-up-to-date-information Config sets are there for both horizontal and vertical. Hope this helps!

How did you fix the crack on the control panel there from earlier?
@SpaciesArcade4 жыл бұрын
I used automotive bog (bondo) on the inside to bind the crack and clamped together until it cured. Cheers
