How I handle the Xavier recruitment: 1) I strategically ensure both Tina and Safy are in the same side of the map. 2) I load Tina with Crusader Scrolls that increase her magic and skill growth. 3) I use the Thief Staff to steal all the Lenster knights' weapons, as well as all of Xavier's weapons and Gustav's Master Lance (the last one because on enemy phase, Gustav will give the Master Lance to one of them) 3.1) Whenever the Thief Staff breaks, I have Safy fix it with the Hammerne Staff. 3.2) I also use M Up Staff to increase Tina's magic in the beginning so that she'll have high enough magic to loot from Gustav. 4) Block all the reinforcement points in order to prevent Loptyr Mages with Rewarp Staffs from spawning. 5) Enter the room, kill all the Freege knights (The Lenster knights will wander around aimlessly) Thracia 776 gives me so many options to cheese everything, why would I resist? ...6) I leave Xavier behind in the next chapter as punishment for the tedious recruitment process and so that I can access the prison gaiden chapter.

But... You could just use ranged weapons (like a bolting time from Ilios) to kill the faceless knights, there's only four faceless knights you need to kill. The named knights have priority to talk to the civilians over fighting your army and don't attack other green units.

​@frostbite_1244 those knights are counted as leonstar units, and must either survive or be released through capture if you want the members card. Paired with the already complex and delicate recruitment of xavier, its the easiest way to get both him and the members card

Mfw when you have to visit specific places, between specific chapters, with a character having specific items in his inventory, then having that character kill an specific Wyvern enemy in a desert map to recruit a healer (who replaces another one so it isn't even an extra healer) , and then to make her not leave for the endgame you need to have selected at the start of the game a probably mediocre Axe unit instead of the only healer on the game that can also attack or the second best unit in the game... But hey, the game having blind people representation is cool

a lot of this game's jank really needs to go, it can keep the map design but things like Xavier recruitment, status conditions that last forever, and unmarked tiles that teleport you around are just no. I'd also kill stamina since I think it doesn't work but I know some people like it.

@PinClockFuntime the unmarked warp tiles + unescapable rooms on what is an escape map when it should be seize just to screw over your units are especially egregious. The rest of the jank is at least doable, if a huge pain in the arse. I did the Xavier recruitment blind first try without the sleep edge by funneling them all into the left corridor and slowly unjamming the Civilians they THANKFULLY don't kill. So it's not IMPOSSIBLE, just, gross as hell. I can see it staying for legacy reasons to be honest though. No idea whether they'll change the infinite status staves. Though echoes not touching the maps at all doesn't get my hopes up for it.

Not that bad honestly. Gives you tons of tools like crusader scrolls and the overpowered characters to make it easier. Thracia really lets you choose your difficulty through the tactics you use. You can make it a lot harder by trying to steal all the good items, get all the optional chapters, save every NPC and recruit every character. But if you're willing to leave some of those things behind, it is much easier.
