Conquering the fear is key! Thank you for this reminder. From about a year ago when I was in the worst of my pain, it was the fear and panic that amplified all those awful sensations. Now, yes I still get severe pain but far less often and as soon as it does occur, I don’t panic I just allow it to be there without judgment, and I do lots of rounds of EFT based around the fear and anxiety about pain. The pain completely goes away the next day, whereas before it would still be there for weeks!

Hi Katherine how do you turn off the fear? Do you always tap or do you have other things you do? I am in constant fight flight so in pain all the time.

You are so welcome! If watching a video lowers your fear and the pain goes down - it's proof it's TMS. Learn to reassure yourself and you can turn off your pain.

I love the analogy of watching the symptoms in your body as you would an orchestra... sometimes the violins are featured and then fade, then the percussion kicks in followed by the clarinets which later are quiet. Thinking of myself taking a seat in the audience and just watching the symptoms has been super helpful in turning down the fear dial for me.

Fantastic. My father was the conductor of an orchestra. LOVE the analogy. LOVE it.

I contacted Dr John Stracks. Hes an MD in the Vhicago area but connected with the few TMS medical practitioners who KNOW most chronic pain is not primarily structural. I joined his weekly groups...it's online. If you're not in Chicago, you can still reach out. His work supports all you do, Dan. After an hour + consult he agreed TMS is my issue. Keep moving in the right direction.

10:14 Dan I've never heard anybody actually call the emotions predators. Actually saying predator and all the connotations that brings. Jotting down that ome. Thank you for that.
@PainFreeYou

If you have been taught your whole life that certain emotions are not allowed, the brain learns they are dangerous. And yes - predators.

Dan your videos are something I always look forward to... I was wondering though, why do you think some people manifest tms and some don’t? We’re all equally stressed, well most of us. And how can we be nice to other people when we’re in constant pain?
@PainFreeYou
@PainFreeYou 4 жыл бұрын
Everybody has a different life experience. Some learn that emotions are fine and stress is okay. Some learn that certain emotions are NOT acceptable. There's no way to figure out exactly why some get TMS and others do not. Everyone is different. What I will say is that TMS is MUCH more common than people think. we have 50 million people in the USA alone with chronic pain. Most of it misdiagnosed and mistreated because it is very likely most of it is TMS. The vast majority just don't know it.

Thnx a lot @Pain Free You! Very helpful. I have a lot of fear thoughts. My pain is not always there but the stiffness is. I have thoughts (from my physical therapists or what i've read) that it is not good to do strength training if you're muscles are so stiff, because it leads to injuries etc. Now i fear the training all the time. I believe with all my heart that it is TMS, even before i knew about TMS i believed that it was stress related. I was also diagnosed recently with IBS and read everywere that your gut is your second brain so difficult to believe that there will be no lasting damage etc etc so i have a fear to irritate my bowel with some kind of foods, especially the ones high in histamine (told that they are the cause of my allergic symptoms and digestion). Heard to change the believes.

Interestingly, I can only feel positive emotions. Negative ones fire up my symptoms and that is all I can feel. What then?
@PainFreeYou

The goal is to TEACH our brain that negative emotions aren't dangerous and do not require symptoms. Yes, negative emotions fire up symptoms. But we can change that. My fast start playlist offers recommendations. DansFastStart.com

I have a fear of food which is the biggest issue I face. I read all those ic boards and Facebook pages in the beginning and it was the biggest mistake I could have ever made. I'm trying to slowly add things in, but whenever the pain increases I can't help but fear it's what I've been eating.

Stress suppresses the immune system and digestive system. So, chronic stress can allow allergies to take hold. So YES, TMS. (Too Much Stress)

I think the industry gave me ptsd 😂. What about anxiety as a tms symptom? That shit is lodged in my body. When my symptoms 1st started i said " its a feeling on nervousness for no reeason". Then neck pain, then muscle tensions, blah blah a shit ton of other symptoms followed. Sarno talks about anxiety as a tms symptom. Im not sure what the fear is about when you dont fear fear?
@PainFreeYou
@PainFreeYou 4 жыл бұрын
Perhaps it's just the belief that feeling anxious is a bad thing that needs to be fixed. What would happen if you didn't judge anxiety as something bad that should be eliminated?
