"We have to use the active voice..." Mitchell gives the voters far too much credit. The average American voter does not understand what autocracy means, does not really understand what democracy means, and *certainly* does not understand that contemporary Republicans are a CREDIBLE fascist threat to democracy. This is not the Wiemar Republic with people saying "Yeah, actually I DO want this to be the last election!" When Americans are told that they must vote for democrats to save the democracy, they just don't believe the stakes are that high.

People can vote = democracy and no fascism. Words like totalitarianism, dictatorship, absolute power are essential parts of the fascism definition. There is none of that. Not even close. Calling it fascism when one does not like how people vote is disgusting (when one knows what fascism is) or immature and irresponsible (when one does not know what fascism is).
