In Part 1 of the BEHIND THE SCENES, Perez describes the Toho studios/Kaiju origins of the show and his decision to dump CGI in favor of old school special effects techniques, emphasizing rubber monster suits, makeup FX, miniatures and forced perspective. With references to Godzilla, King Kong, War of the Gargantuas, Them!, The Amazing Colossal Man, Food of the Gods, Pirates of the Caribbean, and The Sentinel.
