I would have thought the Dagobah Swamp would be in the list.

There are a lot of really good makeup transformation in movies. I like those that used less prosthetics...meaning something more realistic than just covering the body with bulky masks which would look like a ready to wear coverall costume (of course some creature characters need it). But overall, this is a good list covering a certain period of time.

So stoked to have witnessed the rise of Eggers in the industry. It was an interview from Pattinson saying he really wanted to work with him, right before they went into production on The Lighthouse, and I've been hooked since

You think Eggers might do a black and white release of Nosferatu?
@orcokiwo6703Күн бұрын
I'd be very surprised if he don't.
@_GeneralMechanics_Күн бұрын
@orcokiwo6703 I just watched The Lighthouse again, and listening to what he has to say, it'd be a crime against cinema if he didn't do it.
@MSIceWizКүн бұрын
Probably not, but mostly because even how he explains filming The Lighthouse, using cyan filters and using the old school black and white filming methods to be more authentic to the period. If he were to create Nosferatu in the black and white format he would’ve filmed it with that intention from the start. I’m sure the colour palette he uses in Nosferatu is highly intentional and just clicking a filter to make it black and white wouldn’t be reflective of his vision

@MSIceWiz I see what you're saying, but it was just a thought.

I honestly thought the witch was going to be more sinister vibe. I was sooo into the history and dialogue. Shot in natural light. The clothes and sets being made with tools from that period. We are going to see Noferatu next week.

That Northman long take didn't work for me at all, looked clunky, felt like a gimmick, calling attention to it self. Something a random hack director would do to try and impress, Eggers is better than that

I don't say this lightly, but Robert is THE best film maker since the late, great Stanley Kubrick. I watched Herzog's version recently, which was great, but this will become the definitive version of the story. He is still so young, I hope all his films have the recognition they rightly deserve.
@BananaCologne2 күн бұрын
I have to disagree with you there - well, to a point anyway. I definitely think he’s ONE OF the best filmmakers around since Stanley Kubrick for sure, that much is undeniable - but he’s not THE best filmmaker if we’re excluding everyone else like Denis Villeneuve, Christopher Nolan and Gaspar Noé - those last 2 in particular are probably closest to Kubrick’s visual aesthetic. One thing I think we can all agree on is that all of these filmmakers (including Eggars) have a similar attention to detail to Stanley - something that was lacking in Film for some considerable time after his untimely death, and I’m grateful for each and every one of them. I am SO excited to see Eggar’s take on “Nosferatu”!
@lynstrom940Күн бұрын
@@BananaCologne I get what you're saying and it's all a little bit "apples and oranges". Robert is only 41 but he has made 2 perfect films and one excellent film. I hope and believe "Nosferatu" will also attain perfect status and will win some major awards (not restricted to just "Oscars"). I admire many other current film makers and those who have gone to the big director's chair in the sky. My Kubrick-Eggers comparison is based on their unique visual style and authenticity to telling the story with memorable and unusual characters. I can't imagine Eggers making "Blade Runner 2049", which is a brilliant film, and I wouldn't want to see the "The Witch" if it were directed by Christopher Nolan, was three hours in length and cost $250 million.
