True but it’s not like it really mattered. They only got into the house because the dad went outside thinking it was good before he got ambushed. And then his wife let them inside because she was scared they would kill him if they didn’t. And then they ended up killing them and surviving. So hmm??

@@jimmurray9204back then there was barely coverage in major cities. They definitely didn’t have coverage at their house. I worked for a major cell phone company (Aerial, now T-Mobile), that came to my city in 1998. This was 25 years ago…technology is moving fast.

That's what's so SCARY about this movie, in contrast to the likes of "A Nightmare on Elm Street" and "Friday the 13th"! A situation JUST LIKE "Fear" really CAN happen in real life! Because David McCall does have the potential to be REAL, he's a SCARIER horror movie villain than some undead dream killer (Freddy Krueger) or homicidal undead revenant (Jason Voorhees)!

Don't forget her being idiotic enough to let those guys inside the house, saying "i'm sorry" like fckn what are you sorry for? Sorry for letting those men go upstairs and harm your kids? And the only thing she did was scream "dont touch her" like that was going to help the situation. And don't forget that somewhere in the middle of the film she scolds the husband for not being strict enough to their daughter, and when the time came that the husband suspects something bad about the boy and tries to warn the wife, all she does is doubt him and trusts the boy like a kid given a piece of candy like wtf?? This woman has a non functioning brain. Bruh no wonder why her marriage failed before th events of the movie. A fookin dumb parent and dreadful wife

I would have screamed at the wife for acting helpless and to get something solid to use against them. I would not have told the kids to run upstairs and corner themselves, I would have ordered them to get bats or knives and told the kids to use them against the home invaders.

One thing about this family, is how they do not just get stuff to arm themselves and prep to fight back, and stupidly rely on the lone security guard to look after them. If I had been the Dad I would have first slapped Nicole senseless for giving David the code, but then ordered my wife to get a weapon and GROW UP and prepare to defend her family. Then I would have ordered the kids to grab something to arms themselves and tell them to fight back and protect each other, to work as a team.

In my humble opinion, I'd say it's Billy Loomis in Scream. Atleast we got a motive from him. If they had given David a little more background besides being a bad foster son, he would have been a stronger character. Still a very good movie

@@anneblubaugh58 No that's BS. My parents had them and many of my school teachers did back in 1996. I recall even the cleaner at my school in 1995 had his stolen while cleaning. The only difference between 1996 and now is that kids didn't own them.

if, the phone is dead, and the security system doesn't work, how were the lights still on? and why/how would turning them off be a GOOD idea?

I think they cut the phone lines. The security system was wired through the phones lines. As for turning the lights off, its often believed that its tougher for the Bad Guys to see you from outside, where you are exactly.
