I'm definitely loving CNSL as much as you! It's not just entertaining to see players that make mistakes, but i learn more watching players make the mistakes that i would make, instead of just players who are so far beyond my skill level that even their mistakes completely outplay my skill level. I could watch tournaments at this level every weekend for a year and never get tired of it.

LOVE this CNSL series, Artosis. Lower viewer count on the CNSL stuff is probably because of the longer format, which I prefer, but not everyone else does. Hey, at least the audio is great *ahem* unlike ASL. Keep it up man, your passion is infectious!

Yeah, I love these longer series as well, but I'm not the kind of person who watches the daily cast with my morning coffee. There's probably a chunk of people for whom an hour+ video just isn't a realistic watch in the time frame they have. Also, love watching these guys from the tier under the world best! It's great to see more players, I love the strangeness that sometimes comes from not 100% polished builds. Great time overall :)

I like this type of tournament games more than regular ladder casts because the games mean more. The players will try harder when there is more on the line and it also builds a narrative as the tournament goes deeper, which can be fun to follow. So do keep it up!

Hey RT, one thing I'd suggest for these longer videos is to put timestamps or chapters in the video pointing to the start of each match (spoiler free for the winners and losers matches, of course). This might help viewer retention. One reason why these CNSL casts don't get the same viewership is probably that they are just too long for many people, adding timestamps could help with that. It's personally taken me several days to catch up with these matches, and I still have your other normal ladder casts that you've posted in between to catch up on as well.
@harmlessgames9 ай бұрын
I love the CNSL casts, I think they are a lot easier to follow than the daily uploads, especially since going back to old videos has the danger of clicking on one that is part of a series and getting spoiled on the current score. The CNSL casts feel much more organized and have a lot more tension since there is a bracket of sorts.
@harmlessgames9 ай бұрын
To add to this - I would love to see you go back and cast through old tournaments if that was ever something that was interesting to you! I am a newer viewer to Brood War and I always hear about so many amazing players that don't play now, would be awesome to see stuff with some of those classic tournaments.
@NIN22777 ай бұрын
Hopefully viewership picks up now ASL is over. I know I personally didn't want to start watching a new tournament until ASL was done, but now it's over I'm working my way through all the CNSL videos. I really like that you've put each group in a single video rather than lots of small ones, and I'm loving the addition of graphics at the start and end of each group - makes it feel even more like an ASL for the pros and semi-pros that failed to qualify. Thanks for the effort Artosis!

It is not that it is worse than the regular cast, I think, but maybe viewership is lower because it is a much bigger commitment to sit down for roughly an hour to watch this in one go rather than the shorter regular casts. I watch them anyway, but maybe that's why. Keep it up Arty, your enthusiasm got me into these after finding about you through some equal parts infamous and hilarious mouth cam in some ancient video a friend shared with me. Having lunch with your casts ever since I found this channel.
@Keex119 ай бұрын
With lower viewcount: It might be because the longer videos on this channel are usually direct-from-stream videos. I personally don't watch those, and that might be the case for others. So they may just not even click on the CNSL vids. But looking at it, it's also not dramatically lower. Keep it up, I enjoy these CNSL videos :)
@BouBrother9 ай бұрын
Hey RT, thanks again! A reason for the lower amount of viewers might be that this is a period of time with a lot of long ENG BW casts: ASL, KCM and CNSL. I'm doing my best to keep up and am succeeding barely in that, but I guess it can be too much for a lot of people. Perhaps it's unrelated, just a thought. Keep up the good work!
@iqless73139 ай бұрын
How many times have we seen what happened in the Hiya vs. Paralyze game - the protoss goes up to a couple more bases than the Terran and then can just throw units at the Terran without much regard for how the battles go, because they can replenish faster with a superior economy. It feels like in such a situation the T simply MUST try to destroy some P bases or get a few additional of their own. Obviously this is the case for all matchups, but the "throw units at them till they die" seems especially common in PvT because of the generally turtling nature of the T - they're good at defending lines so that's what they do, but "being good at defending lines" simply means "trading better in battles where you're defending" which doesn't matter to the P because they can just throw units.

It's called area denial, and bunkers excel at it. Yes that bunker was killing it, in that it was keeping the mutas off the barracks; while turrets would be as dead as your marine production. Also, what good is a cheap turret, when you end up having to rebuild it 3 times. I'm telling ya RT, a bunker (with actual marines in it) at the top of each mineral line, is the new meta. Ya heard it here, first..
@2639theboss9 ай бұрын
Its definitely not lol its just not worth it. Its not worth the opportunity cost for your supply, its not worth the minerals, especially because you have to spend more upfront. It doesnt even deny the area that well. A single marine kills a muta in about 15 seconds. If you add 3 more marines, youve now spent a total of 4 turrets worth of minerals, 60 seconds of racks time, and half a supply depot on protecting a mineral line that you could have just protected with....four turrets. Protecting both mineral lines and your production is 12 to 16 turrets of minerals, 3 to 4 minutes of racks production, and 12 to 16 dead supply sitting at home.
@sharpasacueball9 ай бұрын
Yeah that might work in d rank lol
@Ziegfried829 ай бұрын
Bunkers are a very heavy investment. Their best use is in front of the natural or built at the ramp of a 3rd base. You can't afford to just build them everywhere, and in order for them to be as good as a missile turret they need at least 2 marines in them. The reason some of us say to build a bunker by the barracks is because we see a lot of games TvZ where mutas get on top of the barracks and the game is over. Xuan still lost the game but at least he lasted a little bit longer by doing that..lurkers had to come to finish him off instead. I do understand why Arty disdains it though, it's basically admitting you're outclassed by that zerg opponent.
@blastedt9 ай бұрын
zerg can just expand 3 times and if you empty the bunkers to attack the mutas have free reign, and if you dont empty the bunkers and attack you're missing a bunch of marines
@karpai54279 ай бұрын
Put a ghost in it. He has as much dps as unupgraded marine and has a sick long range. Too bad it's useless at this point in the game. But if I could resque a neutral ghost, I'd deffinatelly put him in the bunker to protect the base from the mutalisks.

As for the lower viewership, I am enjoying CNSL and this format but if I had to take a guess on why there's less views than normal, it's because of the longer format (ie. an hour+) but I usually just prefer leaving on a longer series like this while playing myself or working on stuff

I think one of the reasons the viewership is potentially "worse" is the immediate results. Speaking for myself I actually really like these casts as much as ASL which is why when I sit down to watch them I want to make sure I have the 1hr+ to catch all the nuisances you drop. Sure, ASL has some tremendous highlights and amazing never seen before moments, but this one they don't have to play absolutely perfect, so there's more room for experimentation and fun games.
