Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Mexico City, Mexico

December 12, the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe, is celebrated in parishes and neighborhoods throughout the country with Masses and dancing and celebration, but the biggest celebration takes place at the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico City, a site said to be visited by 20 million pilgrims a year. During her feast and the week leading up to it, streets are closed to vehicles for a wide distance around the huge shrine property, and pilgrims stream into the site. At night they camp out in streets and parks, even in the rear of the basilica’s plaza.

This is Soooooo beautiful. Thank you Blessed Mother for your visitation to this part of the world in 1531! And for the conversion of millions of people. Do viewers know that this image in NOT on the tilma but is floating above it? Also, that the image is at human temperature and has a heartbeat? The tilma should have rotted away after 10-15 years, yet is still here for us believers to see nearly 500 years later! Explain THAT please, if you can!

Despite Catholic protestations to the contrary, It is difficult for Atheists as well as Protestants not to have the impression that Catholics worship Mary, when they see pilgrims at Fatima or Guadalupe, Medjugorje or anywhere else, crawling on bloody knees toward Marian statues and shrines in order to bow down, kiss and kneel before Mary's statues.
