Update: 1. Hardpacked Snowballs will cause a knockback to both friendly and hostile players in Alterac Valley. They seem to work on all NPCs as well. 2. Normal Snowballs can cause a knockdown if used on players in group with you (there seems to be some sort of short cooldown on the knockdown so you can't "chain CC" anyone). I haven't tested normal Snowballs in raid groups yet, but they don't seem to work in battlegrounds (confirmed for Alterac Valley). 3. Thanks to Fralter for pointing out that the Gloves of the Greatfather are made by leatherworkers and not tailors as I incorrectly say in the video. 4. Some of the clips in the video are not from Classic servers, so I don't actually have +200k gold in Classic :)

here's how i already made several hundreds of gold thanks to this event: - i bought a few hundred small eggs from the AH before this event took place. right before the event hit, i immediately flooded the AH with stacks of 5, and also saved a large portion of them to cook gingerbread cookies to sell for lazy questers. - i auctioned the recipes, snowballs and spices sold by the vendors. even though the vendor is easily accessible and right outside the AH, people still buy them all the time in big servers. even ice cold milk turned a little profit. - i sold portals* to thunder bluff. a holiday quest is turned in to cairne bloodhoof, and TB is also the closest major city to tanaris where you need to rescue metzen the reindeer. - i sold portals* at tanaris and alterac mountains which are both quest zones for the winter veil event. i used the downtime to herb firebloom and wintersbite respectively. - i sold huge amounts of wintersbite which i gathered myself while selling portals. this herb is used for the frost power elixir & winter's might enchant and due to this the prices are slightly elevated. - i got the enchant formula on my alt, and sold it for 5g per enchant with my materials. surprisingly many mages wanted it, since +30 spell power is just too expensive for some. - i just learned the frost power elixir recipe and auctioned some elixirs which -- if sold -- will yield some immediate profit. the prices should rise after the event is over, though. i also made a few small investments. i bought all the cheap seasonal recipes (ench/bs/lw/tailo/cooking/alch/engi) and mailed them to an alt. i also bought tons of snowballs just to store for later. these will all sell for huge profits in a few months. and here's how i farmed a huge supply of mistletoes to help priests/mages in our raids: 1. get naked. you're gonna need to die. carrot on a stick helps, though. 2. make a macro that targets and kisses winter revelers. while you're at it, you can make a macro that goes through the spirit healer dialog + mounts you up when you resurrect. 3. go to thunder bluff 4. use your macro at the entrance of the inn. figure out what the maximum distance you can use the macro at is. 5. when you get the debuff and receive mistletoes/fresh hollies, jump down from the right side of the inn. this will kill you even if you're a rogue with safe fall. 6. resurrect at the spirit healer @ the back entrance of thunder bluff. dying gets rid of the debuff, and you can continue kissing the winter revelers. 7. immediately run up to the elevator next to you and run back towards the inn. don't use the flight master tower, since it will dismount you and you will slow down. 8. rinse and repeat. you will get 5 mistletoes OR 5 fresh hollies every MINUTE (takes about 45-50 seconds per cycle with 103% mount speed if you focus). if you do this for an hour straight with 60-second cycles, you'll get 300 items (~15 stacks) from the process, and based on my experiences, about 60% of them will be mistletoes, which means you'll net 180 mistletoes per hour. i did a few 30-minute sessions while listening to audio books. BUT... sadly, i learned the mistletoe buff DOES NOT stack with kreeg's stout beatdown, so it's not really worth farming since all the good players will use that instead, but it's a cool route anyway. *it's important to note that just standing around in kargath making portals and water is still the best, because metzen is also found in searing gorge, meaning there will be more traffic in kargath.

WoWhead appears to show the Snowball as just a cosmetic effect item. Or at least it doesn't state that it has a knockdown in its item description.

I'm not exactly sure where wowhead gets its data from, and if you can "datamine" the behavior of the snowball from the game files. If you know more about this than me I'd love to be enlightened.
