Adria, I love your videos. I have followed you for several years. I had given your name to my friend who is just starting to free motion. The thing about your videos is anyone can learn from watching. My friend is deaf so your videos are perfect. The other thing I like about this video that has closed captioning is you point to what you are talking about. That (the pointing) is so helpful for a deaf person to get the idea when there is no captioning. Thank you.

Thank you for showing your first feathers - just goes to show what can be done with perseverance - and as for perfection, nope, you aren't a machine and that's what makes it special. I had a go as the guy setting up my machine yesterday said have a play. So I did so badly - I'd forgotten how to do feathers! And when I did have a go they just didn't work. This morning I put myself on a timer - and with grim determination the first time I did a feather it wasn't too bad - went downhill after that! LOL! Got too cocky for my own good! But it is fun.

I have finally been able to create feathers like yours on my home sewing machine. After plenty of doodling on paper and FMQ practice, it happened all at once- I couldn’t believe it. Thank you so much for your encouraging, inspirational instruction. Though your background music is usually so soothing, listening to your tips and explanation is a tremendous help. I love your free flowing style, yet so elegant. I recognize many of the computerized designs are stunning, and intricate, but their repetitive preciseness at times can have the feel of a mattress cover. I much prefer your lovely style and so appreciate what I’ve learned by watching your videos. I can only dream of having the space or budget to ever have a longarm, but I’ve been able to apply what I’ve learned from you on my mid-arm sit down machine. I too look back on my early attempts and enjoy and feel proud seeing my steady improvement. Thank you again for sharing your gifted ness and talent.

So, I need a break from quilting my feather obsession! Thanks to you, Adria, I am ACTUALLY doing feather filling on my third quilt and I am thrilled with my progress, due to your wonderful & mesmerizing video. I am a visual learner and I don't know if I could have done this feather fill without watching your video a few times, practicing on paper at night then finally had the courage to give it a try. First a wall quilt - went as well as could be expected (but I was happy with the result). Then I attempted another and then another full quilt. I work on a mid-arm, Sweet sixteen, and so my hand moving the fabric is a different motion than a long arm. I am dedicated to practice, practice, practice just these feathers until I am no longer nervous with every stitch. I just wanted you to know that there is absolutely NO chance I would be doing feathers without you willing to share this video. And, that you showed your first feather quilt from 10 years ago was an inspiration also. Thank you so much for sharing!

I quilt on a domestic machine and love doing feathers. I recently wanted to do an edge to edge feather design but had no idea how to even start. Your video answered sooooooooo many questions for me. I do smaller quilts and just know I'll be able to use this video as a guide and inspiration. I seem to quilt traditional feathers better but agree bump backs work best for this. I'm trying to learn to be more intuitive as I work across my designs and found myself anticipating your next moves pretty accurately! Thank you so much for yet another awesome video!

This was an encouragement to me, I've been sewing one thing or another from doll clothes to my clothes my children's clothes and finally got into quilting about 20 years ago. Your feather tutorial is an inspiration to me, I started out on a hinterberg frame where it goes from about a 9 inch spaces down to about a six inch space on a king-size quilt. So my feathers look a little rough on some of my older quilts. Now I have a millennium from apqs much larger space not sure how big, but I need to keep doing the memory motions on paper and I keep putting that into the quilt I do. I don't quilt every day, I'm still a very busy grandma and I do other sewing besides quilt. I don't long arm for other people but I still enjoy what I do too.

I always enjoy your videos. However, I, too, lost my orientation. I realized that I need to watch all the videos with my iPad turned upside down so that I have the same view when I’m standing at my longarm. (The same view you have when working from that side of my longarm.) I went and actually tried what I was patterning into my brain and it seems to have worked. I needed the same view so I’m working from left to right. Thanks for your inspiration and guidance. 💕
